To the most attentive Potterheads and free-roaming RPG fans, it’s time to grab your wand because Hogwarts Legacy – the one game that had all of us dreaming of getting our letters from Hogwarts – is up there now. We mean it, not from the store; just summon it into your console just like that. – Hogwarts Legacy must be the biggest action-RPG where all your wizarding dreams come true.
You can create your witch or wizard, attend classes, brew potions, duel against dark wizards, and traverse through this detailed open-world version of Hogwarts and its immediate surroundings. And now? Well, now you also have to be a part of the PS Plus’ offering that will cost you zero galleons from the already paid subscription to get into the game.
Perfectly timed, isn’t it? It has been a while since the game came out. Face it – not everyone is rushing to buy it on the day of release. Maybe you’re waiting for a sale, or perhaps, you were busy with that Wingardium Leviosa, in real life (good luck with that). In either instance, this time, PS Plus has brought you a golden snitch out of nowhere.
So, let us begin with the goodies. Leaving aside the obvious – which would be broom flying and magical beasts taming – Hogwarts Legacy delivers atmospheric style to the max: The castle is alive and breathing; side quests feel real (none of that feel-no-Muggle-chores-in-these-fetch-quests); and combat? From hard-hitting, satisfying spells that truly feel alive to button-smashing duel; there are all those clever twists and turns that keep even the least passionate Potter fan interested.
Here’s a twist now: It isn’t a scattered, hopelessly licensed game. You absolutely can tell that Avalanche really poured in work on this one. So rich are the secrets, lore, and tiny, tiny details interwoven in this world that it’ll stop you in your tracks and say, “Wait, did I just see that?” And now that PS Plus players are going into this world, it is bound to become massive: plenty of memes, more “how to beat this boss” posts, and of course, a heated discussion about which house is best (like Ravenclaw isn’t already winning that).
Well, there are a million reasons why you wouldn’t want to call it a catch. Your basic PS Plus Essence? Sorry, Hogwarts is too expensive for you. You need Extra and Premium subscriptions to get this one. And for those lucky enough to be on those tiers? Damn, you just saved yourself 60 bucks.) And if not, maybe it’s time to upgrade?
