Ubisoft wrapped up the entire public test server (PTS) for the Year 7 Season 1 of Rainbow Six Siege, where most of the community certainly worked on test and feedback works. A thank-you tweet was given from the devs to the players for “stay tuned for updates”-which, let’s be-real probably, new patch notes or tweaks based on what got flagged during the PTS.
So what’s the buzz with Y7S1 PTS? Basically, for those who missed it, it was the server test phase that allowed players to try out new things under the season-new operator tweaks, updates on the map, and even some sneaky new gadgets here and there. That’s why there are PTSes: to capture bugs and balance issues before stuff goes live, and Siege players are not shy about complaining.
And hey, the way history has it, some of that player feedback might just end up shaping the final actual version of the update. Ubisoft’s been really good about listening to the community lately—remember when everyone flipped out over certain operator nerfs, and then the devs walked some of them back? Yeah, that would probably happen again.
But of course, there’s not even a specific date for when the Y7S1 will actually come, but since PTS has ended, it probably will come pretty soon-followed by a couple of weeks out, max. Siege seasons tend to run on a pretty defined timetable, and Ubisoft’s always eager to keep the hype train rolling.
These tie both into Siege at the times when the servers would actually be running under their usual operations. Ranked, as always, is a dismal charade, but that’s part of the attraction, right? Even if you haven’t been in a position to experience the PTS, all is not lost: most of the larger changes will be making it into the live game in pretty short order.
There’s no denying that Ubisoft‘s going to keep hatching plans within that time frame. The phrase “stay tuned” is pretty much code for “we’re still cooking” on something. Maybe surprise patch before the full-season launch might come around. They could be coy about it. Figuratively either way, Siege players won’t have to wait for much longer before the next round of action unfolds.
So keep your nose buried in those patch notes, guys. And if all goes well, maybe pray that your main operator does not get buffed to heck and back again.
