Hank Hill will be coming to Fortnite, or so the latest teaser suggests, meaning players will get their life dose in Arlen, Texas. A silhouette unbelievably Hank Hill with the caption “HANK HILL COLLAB TEASER – THIS WEEKEND 🔥” hit the internet, and the internet went berserk.
So what does this mean? Real or not (and from all indications of the source, it really does look real), it might be a full-on skin of Hank Hill in Fortnite, and even better, some accessories to go along with propane. Let’s be honest: If anyone does not get a propane tank for back bling or a “BWHAH!” emote for Hank, then they’re just wasting their time.
And then the sort of thing that will cause… Well, a few thousand people reacting in a similar manner will cause some serious chaos. Some are beyond excited, with one in all caps screaming, “WE WILL BE BUYING HANK HILL,” while some appear to be at a loss: “Who asked for this?” Which honestly, is fair. That said, Fortnite has partnered just about with everybody from John Wick to Ariana Grande, so things shouldn’t surprise us anymore.
Then came the argument about whether most of the young crowd, i.e., the majority of Fortnite players, would even be familiar with Hank Hill. It was said by one user that “most teenagers aren’t gonna know who Hank Hill is,” and a bit harsh, I must say. But maybe it ends up being that veritable bridge that draws the delirious new generation into the show. Or just another weird flex from older gamers who grew up watching reruns of King of the Hill. Needless to say, it’s a full nostalgia hit on this one.
Obviously, not everyone is thrilled by it. Some are hoping for other collaborations such as Street Fighter and Devil May Cry. Another one whined, “Hank Hill before Yakuza? Really?” And, honestly? I’m with them. But after the madness of collab choices Fortnite has undergone in the past couple of years, I have a feeling this is going to be madder; like Peter Griffin skin next month to complete the Fox cartoon map.
That’s putting the teaser mildly weird. The graphic seems to show Hank in some kind of smoking stance, which is weird since Hank basically abhors cigarettes (propane all the way, folks). A few people think it’s some kind of emote reference, while the rest are just… confused: “They really chose a picture teasing bros cakes 😭😭😭,” joked one user, and honestly, that energy is mutual.
Look at the announced date. Are you kidding me? “THIS WEEKEND,” but some people are feeling that impatience setting in fast. “NOOOOO, NOT THIS WEEKEND. TONIGHT!!!! WE WANT TONIGHT!” Yep, very relatable. Normally, Fortnite releases new content on a Friday, so it’s looking like the reveal will happen next Friday.
Random is probably how you want to begin describing it, and maybe the random part means it’ll sell like hotcakes. There never will be a dull moment for anyone who has a mad love for King of the Hill or just enjoys the utter absurdity that is in the choices of Fortnite crossovers.
