July wallpapers for PC, mobile, and Apple Watch went out into the Genshin realms, carrying the online world into a frenzy-almost, not just because of the wallpapers. These pictures are such treats to the eyes and just paint the perfect summer birthday vibes for Hu Tao, Childe, and Yanfei. But really… the rage? It’s Hu Tao’s bare feet.
Yes, that’s correct. On the official Genshin Impact Twitter account, the wallpapers were posted along with a nice message encouraging people to submit well-wishes for July birthday characters with the hashtag #GenshinImpactCalendar for a chance at winning Primogems. And then, within minutes, enthusiastic comments flooded in about those exposed toes of Hu Tao.
“HU TAO FEET????,” exclaimed one, whereas another hailed, “Official Hu Tao feet??? πππππ” as if witnessing a divine revelation. Some went a little farther, including one almost theatrically pleading, “RELEASE IT AS A SKIN, I BEG YOU EVEN IF IT’S JUST HER TOE I’AM BUYIN’.” One more comment? “IM GONNA BLOW,” which…we’ll just leave it at that.
That said, there were considered opposers of the toes. Another purportedly scolding the Genshin Impact account: “Why did u feed the gooners put the dogs away ππ,” while sarcastically another would say, “Hoyoverse community when Hoyoverse shows Hu Tao thighs and feet for free,” placing a rabid dog meme.
But occasionally, going beyond the ahem foot frenzy, things just worked. One player stated joyously that Hu Tao’s Birthday, July 15th, was theirs as well. “So cool,” they added. Another exclaimed, “well I be hecked.. I share a birthday with Yan Fei.”
Of course, the replies were also about some art that received genuine hype. “Hu Tao’s slaying in that outfit π₯π₯π₯,” one said, head over heels, while another nicknamed her Lantern Rite skin, “one of the best released so far.”
Just amidst the chaos, drama that usually surrounds the Genshin Impact took camping. At this point, some dragged Wuthering Waves fandom into itβwith one declaring, “The fact u guys need constant validation from other Hoyo communities too fell good about WuWa just says how rotten of a community WuWa has.” A response started; “I know it’s hard to digest the fact that WuWa itself is just a higher quality Genshin with a different skin.”
In the end, the newly launched wallpapers set for the fans to decorate their devices with-for all kinds of reasons-wins over Genshin. And if anyone feels extra lucky, they can try their luck at the giveaway by sending in birthday wishes, hashtag #GenshinImpactCalendar. Try keeping, uh, the foot chat to a bare minimum, though.
Or don’t: the internet is going to internet.
