There goes the leak, grabbing some down-and-dirty insider info that Epic Games is hard at work on one bomb Reload map inspired by Squid Game. Yes! You heard it correctly. Death Game from Netflix is coming into Fortnite, and the whole internet has started exploding over it.
The leak came via @BeastFNCreative, who launched the whole thread filled with pictures of the map. This, I think, is not just some lame cookie-cutter filler that is thrown into Creative Mode; this is going straight to Reload–Fortnite’s rotating playlist of adrenaline-pumping mini-games. The hype, therefore, is real, with a few dashes of players melting down in the replies.
@crazy_crazzzz said, “Hello??? This is awesome.” On the other hand, @eikoraku pondered, “Just let me know if I can get the counting doll as a skin.” Honestly? Same. Not having the creepy robot girl skin would kind of feel like a betrayal.
But there are some who aren’t entirely on board. @sstonerbray called the map “fucking ugly,” which—listen, fair enough, beauty is subjective. Though most other reactions were quite hyped: @Fox_Warrior804 might’ve just declared this “the BEST one… for me… at least,” while @Matexfv was thinking ahead with, “level 800 like the Frenchies just on this map.”
So, what is the plan of action? How will this fit into Reload? Traditionally, the mode cycles in interesting maps from the Fortnite Season, not random pop culture crossovers. @VideogameFan1 sought an answer worthy of consideration: “Will this be added to the rotation, or is it a temporary replacement?” No official word just yet, but if previous history has taught anything, then dumps of chaos like this usually do not stick around too long.
Which brings us to gameplay. @GamerBraydenFN asked, “Are we gonna have weapons in this mode?” Pretty legit question. Squid Game is about brutal, weaponless challenges- will Fortnite choose to stay true to the source material? Or are we just about to see a Red Light, Green Light with shotguns? In any case, I like the idea.
Surely, yet Fortnite managed to go viral with other crossovers before- Walking Death, TMNT, and even Among Us (RIP) had their twenty minutes of fame. But Squid Game? That’s another level. The show’s aesthetic is just gorgeous for the colorful chaos of Fortnite, and if Epic manages to nail the mini-games, then this might just turn out to be one of the most memorable LTMs of all time.
Well, leaks are casual leaks until Epic says otherwise, but with how detailed these images are, you’d find it hard to fathom this not coming to fruition. And if it does? Well, then, did I say goodbye to free time yet? Between this and that alleged Avatar UEFN treatment, Fortnite will be momentanously talked about.
Memes, competition, or just curiosity about how awkward this crossover turns out are all going to be some more reasons to look forward to Squid Game in Fortnite. I am gonna get back to polishing my Dalgona candy skills, you never know when!
