Slurp Rushers, gather round, because Epic just put in a funky little update with a new Reload map – and you know what this means: New Loot. So, as the official Fortnite account said: “New Reload map=new loot! What’s your favorite item in Slurp Rush?” And quite frankly, it couldn’t have been better timed.
For somebody who has so far been absent with their eyes glued to their screens, Slurp Rush is one of those modes that just feels different. It’s fast. It’s chaotic. And it creates some even better opportunities to make those fools regret dropping into the same match as you.
New loots are somewhat of a mystery (there’s no official list yet), but if anything goes by previous updates, we’re looking at either some crazy new weapon perhaps, along the lines of a game-changing consumable or a mobility item that has players zipping about like half-caffeinated squirrels.
What’s bizarre is how, at the time of writing, there were therefore zero replies to that rather broadcasted tweet. Not a single comment from anyone providing their opinions on the new loot. Well…that’s an oddity in a community that normally bombards these announcements with everything from hype to salt to conspiracy theories on why their favorite gun got vaulted.
Either everyone was busy playing the update or this silence means that the players are still trying to wrap their heads around what has been added before they start screaming for some adjustments for balance.
Looking at it either way, if you have not gone to Slurp Rush, then it is time. It was indeed a fun mode; however, with new loot, it will feel like an entirely new experience. Just don’t worry us if you realize you just spent six nonstop hours in-game.
So get your squad together and run to those shiny new toys. And if you see something that seems kind of broken, tweet about it so the rest of us know. Or, if you want, keep your lips sealed and own while the rest catch up. No judgment.
