Aight Lastly Fortnite players, fasten your seatbelts as the famous Pump Shotgun is back for a very limited time. Epic Games, being mischievous, has really added this fan-favorite weapon to Battle Royale for just 24 hours, and the reactions … well, let’s say, are fairly mixed.
Within no time, the HYPEX tweet sent the community into a frenzy: “THE PUMP IS BACK AFTER 3+ YEARS (for 24h).” The nostalgia hit harder than a 200-damage hit! But here’s the catch: it will be here only for a day. Yes, 24 hours!
Before we jump into the frenzy created, let us take a time-out to clear up something: Some players swear they saw the pump back in Chapter 4 albeit others might just have been misinterpreting it for Sharp Tooth Shotgun-A similar one, but not exactly the same. As one player put it, “That was the Sharp Tooth Shotgun; damn thing was ass fr.” Ouch.
The replies kept flowing, a roller coaster of emotions-some hyped (“The best shotgun of all time in terms of legacy.”), others… not very much (“Who cares abt it…”), and then some actually dared Epic for a deathmatch over this 24-hour cap. Too much? Maybe. Relatable? Hell yes.
Then again, the real question remains: One day and gone? Players like @Snailrr summarized that thought perfectly: “What’s the point of bringing it back for one day?” And honestly? Fair. If you’re gonna tease us with the OG Pump, we should get to enjoy it for more than just a single rotation of the Earth.
An update in Fortnite can never be complete without some technical glitches. People started complaining about the sound effects, with one stating: “Yet they somewhat ruined it by mistakenly changing the sounds of it. 😡” Because nothing hurts more than your favorite gun sounding like a wet noodle.
Then came the side debates-was the Pump really gone (apparently, it did pop up in Chapter 2 Season 8 and a couple of Chapter 4 seasons) or was the Sharp Tooth just an unworthy impersonation? The verdict? The Pump legacy, no matter the rare in-game feature this time around, goes above and beyond, much like how rare a default skin could ever be in a pro lobby.
So, what will the next steps be? Will Epic eventually back down and create the Pump once again for good? Or will this become yet another cruel tease to keep players guessing? Either way, if you missed that 24-hour window, better luck next time… or maybe another three years.
Meanwhile, the players unite for other pressing matters of the day—namely, bringing back Team Rumble (shoutout to @DesignSoupPW for mobilizing the movement). Because, let’s face it, the Fortnite community is never short on asks. Or complaints.
And that is the beauty of it-all this means is that however divide a crowd is over the brief return of the Pump, one thing’s for sure: the audience of Fortnite is knowing. So whether it’s celebrating a classic or taking potshots at a scarcely welcomed update, they never run out of fuel. So here’s hoping Epic will listen… or at least give us more than a day with some real good stuff next time.
