Epic Games just dropped the Fortnite Crew skin on the players, and the world is… well, having an array of emotions regarding it. The fiery tweets poured out with the release of the Ayla Winn skin; some hyped while others expressed absolute disgust. The skin is called by some as the best Crew skin in recent years, and then there is the other half that is roasting it just as they would a chicken dinner filled with Victory Royales.

Let’s talk about this skin first: Ayla Winn is an edgy and rebellious character: her slim contour eyeliner is just a little smug; lawns and wild hair with a pickaxe that looks like it’d slice through the competition. ÑThe design seems to be the physical manifestation of “don’t mess with me,” and some players are down with it. One user said, “Finally, a skin that matches my energy,” and, honestly? Mood.

That being said, it wasn’t really all good vibes. The haters came out to play: one person was even licking their chops with a Farquaad-from-Shrek comparison (ouch!), while somebody else was pretty straight to the point: “garbage.” There is also an entire faction within the community clamoring that Crew skin quality has been on the decline of late, treating mid-tier level designs to a full-price ticket. One ;iquid reproach just read: “Worst crew. Hope July is better.”

Talking about the price now, because a French person sees this as an 800 V-Buck figure as opposed to a genuine full Crew subscription worthy of shelling out for. That’s spicy tucked in the awareness of the fact that usually, a Crew pack offers way more than just the skin, but if the customers feel ripped off, yeah, they will say something.

That pickaxe, though? Surely, that is one thing everyone could agree upon. Another replied: “On everyone’s souls, we’re using that pickaxe,” so hey, at least they got one thing right.

Meanwhile, some are getting tired of the whole AI-generated skin debate. One comment went on to say, “Fortnite needs to not use AI for new skins,” insinuating that many of the recent designs feel uninspired, lazy, or at least a bit of an AI-tool-induced laziness.

This skin, in the end, is here to stay, and it’s very polarizing. Already, a good number of players are putting new outfits together for it, while others are going to skip it, entirely. But hey, that’s Fortnite-rafters almost have something to say about it.

Will you be wearing Ayla Winn next season, or is this one an easy pass? One way or the other, this is going to make an enormous racket, and we’re going to be watching.

(And just on a side note: why does every single skin announcement in this game bring out the wildest of comments? Never change, Fortnite community, never change.)
