A juicy teaser for OG Season 4 was dropped by Epic Games, and whomever thought Dusty Depot must undergo another jab-poison injection is fainting. A tweet by HYPEX reads: “Dusty Depot, our favorite OG POI ❤️would be a shame if anything happened to it…” Sometimes the divided Fortnite community sways between nostalgia and panic.
The first thing is that Dusty Depot is a place with a legacy: a meteor fell there secretly passing its ore from Dusty Depot to Dusty Divot. And now this teaser is the ultimate head wobble from Artic: “Hey remember this place? Yeah… about that.” Replies really killed it. Some fans are screaming NOOOO while others say meh, who ever liked Dusty Depot? And then the wild conspiracies about Tilted Towers start.
@AJ_20072025 joked about the teaser hinting at the destruction of Tilted, and then the replies began to pour in a meltdown, like people are actually losing it right now. Meanwhile, @TH3V1SIT0R, clearly role-playing as The Visitor, clumsily replied, “Hey! I really turned that place into a Dusty Depot”—which is equally amusing and at least the slightest bit terrifying if you know the lore.
But Dusty Depot has somewhat of an uneasy legacy. For some players, it’s loved because of simplicity (and for the cracked rocks, shout-out to @Temptat22422948 for that throwback). For others, it’s a slap in the face: @d0gbackwards_17 said, literally NO ONES favorite. Hard to say which way the winds are blowing.
The bigger question is: What is Epic even planning? OG Season 4 is supposed to be a throwback, but are they really just about to rehash the meteor story, in other words, have an entire repeat of the past? Or is this a “what if” situation where perhaps things might be heading another way? Another feeder toward that conspiracy is @ToTheGalaxy029, tweeting, “Looks like it’s not gonna be a What If timeline,” while others stand by the doom of Dusty. Again.
And now, we cannot forget the bots. Um, really. @autograph_999 threw shade with, “Man who the fuck cares about this mode 😂 92 bots and 8 real players,” which… fair. But at the same time, @IvanIsGaming just wants less bots, and really? Me too.
The timing is a little bit suspicious. OG seasons are slapping hard on the nostalgia of Fortnite, so wrecking Dusty Depot AGAIN feels like a bold recurrence note. Or lazy? Just depends on who you ask. @rainbowheron41 straight up said, “I thought they were doing things differently,” and now the side eye vibes are in full effect.
What’s next? If it repeats again from history, Dusty Depot goes boom alongside a spawned new twist on an old map. Either Epic is trolling us or nothing happens; either way, the hype (and dread) is legit. OG Season 4 is coming, whether you stay for the chaos or are there re-living the glory days, one thing for sure: We are going to have nothing to do because of Fortnite.
