Star Wars and Fortnite aficionados, buckle up! Why? Because this hype train is gaining momentum. Epic Games is about to drop heavyweight announcements, or should we say-a thermal detonator-with the Fortnite Star Wars season announcement? And, yes, two days are still left for that!
The moment the epic tweet dropped, an internet storm broke loose, and this one was from a credible source announcing that the event was knocking at the door. In fact, a bit of oops in the author’s post has been made in saying the reveal would be on Friday-but oh no, it will be before that! The more hints in that image (which we do not see but can only picture as something very epic) raised excitement for the event further.
Now, to talk about what makes this event special. An event where Fortnite goes beyond the convention of crossovers-that is what the Star Wars crossover is. The lightsabers were unvaulted; it was one big royal battle on Tatooine for Jedi versus Sith. That was chaos; the good kind.
Think of all the awesome stuff: new skins going on sale (Darth Vader, perhaps, or Kuya, in Mandalorian style?), new guns, starship weaponry, or a Star Wars-themed point of interest.
But here’s an interesting one-Epic loves to upscale expectation. On the other hand, this can be the opposite-they could do a full Star Wars event with NPCs, quests, and a limited-time game mode where you get to pilot an X-Wing. Or just do a BB-8 back bling and call it a day (don’t even think about it, Epic).
It’s a little weird how dead it’s remained, and the replies are kind of lacking. You would think by now, fans would be going crazy in the comments, but perhaps everyone is too busy polishing up their Obi-Wan impressions for the inevitable voice chat spam during the event: “Hello there” is about to become the most abused phrase in Fortnite history.
What’s next? Well, mark the calendar, set your alarms, and maybe call in-srsly, do what you gotta do. Because on that day, the servers are gonna be jam-packed, skins will be flying off the shelf, and the Internet will literally start twitching.
And if you are one of those who said nothing would lure them into Fortnite since “it’s just a kids’ game”, well…it’s probably about time to rethink that. Because there is nothing more adult than building a fort while being hunted down by Darth Maul with a lightsaber.
Get prepared: This one is strong with the Force.
