Perhaps next season sees the cancellation of Fortnite OG Rated, and players have already started showing their support. The rumor was birthed by a tweet from @itsmeleaky and retweeted by the legendary Fortnite insider @HYPEX, sending the community into a whirl of reactions. Now some are crying, some just shrug, and others are begging Epic to return the Arena.
So what is the actual beef with OG Ranked? If you are not in the know about this situation, OG Ranked was put forward as a competitive mode for Fortnite’s throwback season, sort of a ranking ground for players as they relived the formation days of the game. But the leak says it might not survive yet one more update. And really? The tweet itself does not seem to suggest that many would miss it.
One player by the name of @Agtesnx just outright said, “Bring back arena nobody cares about this dumbass rank system,” followed by @AnimatorBozo saying, “About time honestly, like, who’s genuinely playing that?” Yikes. Then those who are complaining about ranked lobbies being swarmed with bots, rendering the whole notion of raising one’s rank quite hollow. “@Sand_St0rm19” writes: “We could see bots all the way up to champ now.”
If only it was that easy.
Players such as @DevilNinja64 argued otherwise, claiming Epic could just have fixed the system instead of just burying it. “All they had to do was remake the game that already existed,” they tweeted. “How hard is it??? And literally add a toggle for bots…”
There are, however, those who venture farther and think about the bigger picture- bots in regular OG mode. @nitobim69 summed it up:’Good but get rid of bots in OG.’ And honestly? Fair. If you are going to go through all that trouble of bringing back the nostalgia, might as well make it feel real.
Of course, there was always one standing by the sidelines solely interested in the skins.@OneBros11016 took the opportunity to ask, “When is MHA going to come back to the item shop😭” because priorities, people.
As for the real reasons behind the cut, they stay rather vague. Maybe the player count got overly cracked, maybe the bots just made the experience unbearable, or they could be in desperate need of space for something new. Whatever the case, if you’re still among those very few still grinding OG Ranked, enjoy it now!
Well, if it goes, at least the memories will be worthwhile…or the bots anyway.
