Epic Games has released its July Fortnite Crew Pack, and this new skin is driving players into the extremes of either complete excitement or complete disillusionment. The reveal came through a tweet that featured an in-game-based look of a character themed after the reboot mechanic in Battle Royale. The reactions, however, have been bit…mixed.
This design had Reboot Man wearing a sleek armored suit. His helmet showed a face some players were calling… very much questionable. One player said, “Ugly. Ayla Winn 200% better,” while another joked, “Keep that mask on bro ðŸ˜ðŸ˜.” Ouch. Then there are the ones that go, “Easily top 5 crew skins” and “Honestly the best crew skin we had in a while.”
The lore meanwhile: One eagle-eyed player noted how the pose and floating cubes of Reboot Man resembled Origin from the lobby, and in another language, the skin description tells him that he is called “Rei”, which means King. Could this be a wink toward Origin’s royal status? Maybe. Or maybe the players just go overboard. Wouldn’t be the first time.
Bigger still is the question of whether or not that $12 subscription is worth it for the skin. Some are loving it, the concept especially if you’re the teammate that just keeps on reviving everyone (shoutout to the person who said, “Finally got an icon skin (I’m always rebooting my teammates cause they’re trash)”). Others… aren’t really so enthused. “I don’t pay $12 a month for men 🙄,” chuckled another, and a second sighed, “These mfs running out of ideas.”
Then there’s the mystery of the mask. Probably a sizeable chunk of players feels the skin would be way cooler if Epic never revealed the face underneath. “NOOO. this skin would’ve been so much better if they never showed who’s under the mask,” one player said. Another just shrugged and said, “He’s fineeeeeee,” so… take that for what it is.
The discussion continues even beyond the skin itself and towards the worth of the Crew Pack. “If I bought the Crew subscription on July 1, would I get the August Crew skin?” another player posed (likely: Probably, but timing is everything with these things.) Another glances around and says, “Can we take a moment to appreciate how good the deal is for the crew pack?” So there’s another good reason to consider the bundle even if you’re not into the skin.
All in all, the Fortnite Crew Packs never fail to stir up a little drama, and this pack is no different. Metallica fan aside, eager for a bundle; some players are just hoping the next one gets a bit more… effort. But hey, that’s what makes Fortnite so great- the new always shows up around the corner, and that means the debates never come to a halt.
So, are you strutting June’s Reboot Man? Or will it be locked straight to the locker? Whatever the case, it’s chef’s kiss entertaining.
