With this, some Fortnite fans may either be having an auditory treat or those impossibly loud debates on whether it’s the best song of the millennium at all: ‘See You Again’ is supposed to be added as a Jam Track. The twist: no one really knows if the Tyler, The Creator version or the Wiz Khalifa one will be used. The internet has long passed judgment.
The hype started since HYPEX, a very trusted leaker, blew the bombshell in a tweet. The said tweet did not confirm which artist’s song would be played, ushering the players into combative replies. Some pleaded for Tyler’s crazy energy, while others are holding out for Wiz’s emotional banger. Then, someone had to bring Charlie Puth into the argument (???).
Confusion arises because both ‘See You Again’ versions have their own glory. The first variant with Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth was a big global hit and fast-associated with the Fast & Furious franchise (RIP Paul Walker). Tyler, The Creator’s remix, on the other hand, turns an original into something dark, gritty, and very much his own. The obvious attempt by Epic Games to bolster its music cred with Festival mode implies that both versions would fit well there. So, what will Epic opt for?
The community is betting on it. One person joked, “I got 5 on it,” harkening back to another classic track, while others are threatening to boycott if it’s Wiz’s version (Dramatic much?) Tyler’s fans also rushed the comments in all caps: ‘PLEASE GOD PLEASE GOD PLEASE GOD I BEGGGFG.’ The desperation is clear.
There’s that Fast & Furious connection, too: considering that Fortnite already boasts tons of F&F cars, Wiz’s version would make much sense. But imagine Tyler’s remix on the Festival mode instruments-it’d be madness. Distorted synths while your character is headbanging on stage!
Now not all voices shone with positivity. Non-agreeing arguments could tend to disrespect the entire concept (labeling it ‘rage bait,’ or ‘get a hobby’), some nearing the dark side of witty comebacks. But then, that’s Fortnite-the fun is in arguing over the little things.
Epic hasn’t said a word yet, but if history really is our guide, leaks like these end up being true. So, whichever side you’re on: Team Tyler or Team Wiz, get ready to either celebrate or riot when it finally drops. And if it ends up being Charlie Puth… well, those are the twists nobody saw coming.
The only sure thing is this: Fortnite’s library is now getting crazier by the day. From Eminem to The Weeknd and perhaps even ‘See You Again,’ the game is fast turning into a virtual Coachella. And even we: we dig it. Let’s not even get into the war debate (Too late?).
