Fortnite players, unite and celebrate! This fast-paced mode now undergoes its most recent enhancement with the Duos option, and the community has gone mad over it. The release slipped under everyone’s radar, courtesy of Epic Games, but that man’s keen players caught it almost immediately: there is now a way to squad up with a friend in this insane, condensed Battle Royale mode.
If one has yet to get the chance to gamble at it, Blitz Royale is simply an intense racing variant of Fortnite. The games are not just short: the circles go further inside the storm, loot spawns faster, and everything is wrapped up in 10 minutes. It’s mad chaos and full on thrills. But now you have that one buddy with whom you can go at it.
Online players went wild, getting soon into spasmodic arguments. The ones that celebrated this announcement were really loud about it. A certain Epic-OmegaThaCrownGod said, “Amazing news for someone who doesn’t play squads! Yes!” On the contrary, Noob had a strange concern about whether these wins would count towards his overall stats (Spoiler alert: They do).
And that, consequently, makes the least of them really happy, while the rest of them intensely happy, for they’ve gotten another somewhat unfair way to rack their wins up without having to sit through a 20-minute full-length match: “Love this mode—short, quick play,” said CatMan to an agreement from many others. In all honesty: with this game eating up any sliver of free time, and none of those Battle Passes going to level themselves, this mode is a godsend for fast leveling.
On the other hand, some are discontent with it. One faction cried about the mode getting to be zero-build only, which would actually be a bummer if you’re into turbo-build sweatin’. Then, the classic Fortnite bot argument pops up: “Now just remove the bots and it’s PERFECT,” demanded a player, because even in hyper-speed mode, people want every kill worthy of a pro clip.
The curse: you can’t please everyone. For most players, it’s winnable here. Whether grinding XP or sneaking in quick games between classes or escaping the hellscape of solos (shoutout to Star boy:3 for that relatable “YES IM FREE OF SOLOS” tweet), Blitz Royale Duos saves the day. So grab a friend and plunge into the chaos; just don’t blame us when it is 3 in the morning, and you’re staring at regrets.
