Capcom has revived new player cards for Year 2 fighters and will soon open the feature for players to fill out their profiles for match-ups-casual or serious. But with a new way to interact offered in the Street Fighter series, all commentary seems to be on an entirely different matter. Not the cards. All are about Fortnite.

In a way, the post-announcement tweets should have been brimming with anticipation about the awesome thing to provide for player profile customization. Instead of such exciting excitement came the eruption of one burning question in every reply to, “Where are the Street Fighter skins in Fortnite?” They are demanding to be answered, a couple doubting whether Capcom has the motivation to pursue a good bag of money.

“WHY.. give us ONE REASON,” a Twitter fan arrived at a very despairing question. “Why street fighter skins haven’t returned. JUST GIVE FORTNITE THE GREEN LIGHT. WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM.” They definitely were not the only ones raising their voices. The responses were practically the same, even tagging Epic Games to try and insist on a return of the collaborations.

These voices in demand are not just some random ones. “Street Fighter we want you in Fortnite!! Come back,” came the demand from a player. Even content creators like JVjoaoJVvitor, who uploaded their filled player card, could not escape from including “Fiz o meu ✌️😄” (“I did mine ✌️😄”) before the Fortnite talk took over.

Maybe all this bidding for more crossover content is shining the spotlight back on the Outfits and Fighting Pass. “Y’all are doing everything but dropping outfit 4,” a user said, while another asked, “When’s the next Fighting Pass? Y’all went silent on that since Elena dropped.”

Catching wind of Aespa collab rumors has also hit the scene. Yes, in at least hopeful fans’ eyes, the K-pop group appears in the running for a Street Fighter crossover. “Fighting Pass Collab with Aespa coming soon right?” one tweet questioned. Whether it’s true or just wishful thinking is to be seen; if it even makes it into conversation points, it’s a testament to how starved players are for fresh content.

Meanwhile, some are just begging for a Steam sale: “Put the game on discount on steam pls 😭,” said a player. “Just wait for the steam summer sale next Thursday,” another replied. So, yes, even if the player cards are cool, the real story is that Street Fighter fans have a lot on their wish list, and they aren’t holding back in expressing it.

Is Capcom even going to listen? For whom knows. But one thing is loud and clear: with or without Fortnite skins, with or without new outfits, and with or without surprise collabs, the Street Fighter community simply refuses to stay silent. They want answers. They want content. They want it now.

So yeah, check out those Year 2 player cards if that’s your thing. But good luck trying to go through those replies without being sucked into the Fortnite debate. It’s been inevitable for a while now.
