FIFA TOTY is meant to be one of the biggest and best promos in the annual rollout of EA’s FIFA. The TOTY FIFA 21 promotion started yesterday, with TOTY Ronaldo, Mbappe and Lewandoski added to the card pile. There was one card to play for, a 91-rated Moments Suarez card.

Some thought EA might be saving some content for today (Saturday), but nothing has been added to the game at the usual 6 pm time slot. That being said, an SBC Flashback Ribery was added yesterday at a later time, so there might be something on the way…maybe.

So what does EA add instead of interesting players, objectives, and cards to play for? A brand new TOTY kit coming on Sunday. That’s right. The year’s biggest promo is getting a kit, that sort of looks like a set of pajamas. It’s not even out until tomorrow.

Don’t worry though, there were plenty of packs added to the store so EA could get their money from people hoping for one of the three TOTY attackers. There might have even been a bug (depending on whether you’ve got your tinfoil hat on) that resulted in limitless 50k packs.

There weren’t, however, any flash SBCs or lightning rounds for packs like previous years. There are no cards or players to earn through objectives, milestones, or through the new team/event mechanic in FIFA 21.

Yesterday, EA added a 90-rated Flashback Ribery for around 800k a bit later, at around 7:30 pm. Why EA has decided to randomly change the time of content release at the start of the TOTY, nobody knows, unless there’s some sort of reason behind it. People spend more on packs if there’s literally nothing else to do in the game?

Turns out, the content has been added, at 7:30 pm. The new content release time, for whatever reason. There’s a TOTY SBC challenge for a 25k pack, an 83+ attacker upgrade SBC, and a Harlem kit SBC. Another kit. Not quite the content everyone was looking for in this hyped-up promo.

There’s no doubt that this TOTY promotion is one of the worst in recent years. Nothing says greed quite like EA releasing no content and stacking the store with packs.

Rumors are flying around about why they would choose to move the release time of content, suggesting it might be because of trying to sell more packs or to ease the pressure on the notoriously awful EA servers.
