Haaland has made notorious defenses look foolish with his dazzling display and now he has come out and said in social media that it is a Minecraft year for him again. The same guy that seems to score goals for fun now professes an addiction to blocks. And honestly? That sad for us.

The forward dropped that radiant slur with an associated link that read: “Ohhh that time of year”, while probably showing a clip of him immersed in his pixelated world. No context, no explanation-just pure, unadulterated gamer energy. Classic Haaland.

Just when one would think, Ah, Haaland plays Minecraft? He does indeed, and he isn’t shy about it at all. This is not the first time, either, that he has mentioned his love for the game: Dude has always been vocal on his yearly Minecraft marathons, probably trading in screamers for diamond sword crafting. The duality of man, right?

Most athletes will post work-out videos or sponsorships, but not Haaland-naah, he reminds the world that even super elite footballers sometimes slip into a dark endless void of mining and crafting. More power to him.

The universe has blessed him that it comes at the right time. The claim that Haaland would rather be playing football 24-7 is at 20,000 feet away, with the Premier League season in full swing. Apparently, there is always time for a spot of digital block-stacking in between games. Perhaps that helps him unwind in tough situations-or perhaps he really is a Creeper fan. Who knows?

What is crazy is that Haaland is not the only athlete with a gravity-defying case of addiction to Minecraft. Other pros, including Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, have confessed to grinding on it. Where footballers go, there too go Minecraft, like FIFA and rage quitting.

What next, then? A Haaland Minecraft stream on Twitch? Working with Dream? Some super-secret Redstone invention to score him more goals? Who knows! All that’s left to do is to picture him placing blocks quietly while plotting his next hat trick.

There is no denying that Haaland’s Minecraft season has been unleashed back upon the Internet. If only we could take a peek into his world. Mmmmm, we are pretty sure there has to be an enormous statue of a golden boot somewhere in there.

I hope that sometime between now and then, he throws us another cryptic tweet about gaming. Maybe next year he will go full-blown Fortnite. Or, dare I say-Roblox? Nah, probably not. Some traditions are just too sacred to break.
