In a gesture to celebrate their Elder Scrolls creative community, Early Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls Twitter account shared some really cute fan art of the beloved Khajiit character, Runs-In-Circles, created by one Discord user Ignatius. However, the replies soon spun off into chaotic expressions of appreciation, memes, and plenty of unanswered grumbling on Oblivion Remastered.
The fan art is indeed cute- Runs-in-Circles, for the few who may not know, is portrayed with the kind of cartoony charm that reads Wicked fun in her aura; hence, entirely fitting for an Elder Scrolls Online character who practically exudes that energy herself. Bethesda had issued their sincere thanks for the art bestowed upon them by Ignatius, and the gamers appeared busy elsewhere. The thread was more than supposed to be a celebration of the artwork; opinions were tugging each other along, memes were scorching the air, and pleas for fixes on Oblivion Remastered were pouring down.
One @StefanIonutAlin bluntly stated, “stop posting stupid shit until you fix your game” to Bethesda. Others clamored for the same sort of respect, with @d0nm0f lamenting, “Stop ignore us and patch the damn game.” Performance issues, visual bugs, and lack of communication were the biggest complaints. In contrast, @CAIUSC0SADES was calling out specific examples, citing how the chameleon effect glitched out and bald heads showed up randomly as cases of “definitely not what we were going for” in their immersion.
Some, however, were in for the rage. @Sir_Noot__ states in appreciation of the gesture, “I love the fan appreciation, keep it up!” @AstroRabby went wholesome: “I will feed her many carrots.” And then the memers took over-the-world from @Solid_Skullz and @CosmosOfCringe began flooding the site with Monty Python-esque “NI NI NI NI NI” references.
Discussion of Oblivion Remastered kept going. Others, like @Aaron2178 disparaged Bethesda’s decisions while dropping a screenshot of the dev team with a caption, “So you’re really going with this crew? This game is totally fucked.” Ouch. Another one, @GodGunsNGadsden, said the devs “have never played a video game” and insisted that they “do better.”
With all the chaos surrounding the insults, a few tried to quell the rage. @drnobodyisbased reminded, “2 misses in a sea full of pretty good and even great games,” citing Fallout 76 and Starfield in mixed terms. However, @voidedstee61673 fired back that it was a “very mixed bag of people,” insinuating that Bethesda’s recent antics have done little to inspire confidence in The Elder Scrolls VI.
The other mill-house wildcards appeared: @tittyleds randomly said just maybe a stretch of Kingdom Come: Deliverance: “How can a ram draw an Argonian?” Meanwhile, @man1316125 rocked it down to the very end by declaring: “This art is giving me zoomies.” Classic Twitter.
Then, the pointers. In short, the interaction of Bethesda with the fanbase is something good to see. On the downside, the sheer quantity of wrath says so much about how much disheartened players are about the current state of Oblivion Remastered. That remains to be seen on whether those issues will be addressed by Bethesda or if they’ll just go for it posting yet again cute fanart. Whatever happens, the Elder Scrolls community is as passionate (and unpredictable) as ever.
