From Software has just dropped a gorgeous little teaser trailer for Elden Ring Nightreign, and, well, it has sort of gotten some people chattering. And it does feature the Guardian class from the sky, promising so much vertigo into one of the hardest lands in the world of Elden Ring. The game comes out on PS5 on May 30, and the hype is real. Though, to the contrary, there are just a handful of people defending the opposite.
First, a little about the Guardian: it saw its creation in the network test, and well… shall we say, it endured a not-so-great time. One player labeled it “ASS bro,” hoping for some buffs in the final release. Ouch. But thanks to a new trailer, it looks more polished with some suave aerial moves that would actually compete with changing the combat meta. Provided From Software has done some balancing, this might very well turn into a highlight of the franchise. Or at least, not into a meme.
Now, all that talk about “Is this just Elden Ring again?” One player admits that he burnt himself out after 100%-ing Elden Ring and wonders if he’s really ready for another round of the same. Fair. Yet, others are filled with excitement over what is being called “peak” and swear to “fw this game.” Classic From Software split: either you love it, or you hate it.
Somebody expressed a wish for From Software games to be “trash” and thought that “we moved on” from that. Bold take, especially when other dudes started replying that “From Software couldn’t be any further away from peak.” The conversation is well alive and well.
While that was going on, the conversation veered away from the game. One wanted to know if there will be a movie adaptation (???), while the others demanded that PlayStation get Denuvo out of Stellar Blade. Random, but okay. And, as usual, there was the obligatory shout of “PlayStation stop posting two-second clips instead of real trailers.” Cannot win.
Go figure, Elden Ring Nightreign promises to be just another divided but ambitious entry in the From Software catalog. You mark the date down for May 30, though. Whether onto punitive combat, lore, or just to watch the fanbase fight it out, that day is something to look forward to. Or can it if you are still recovering from the other one? So, grab the popcorn; it is going to be one hell of a ride.
