By way of its Night Reign implementation, some spicy advanced Elden Ring tips have been unleashed by the real FromSoftware, and yet the masses remain bored out of their minds due to the matchmaking woes to pay for it. The official Elden Ring Twitter account issued a Producer-esque message regarding the mastery of the night and linked it to a strategy guide, but surprisingly the replies turned to a screaming battleground concerning broken multiplayer systems.

Agonizing co-op challenges were supposed to have been introduced into Night Reign with Elden Ring; players, however, claim the nightmare scenarios are spawned during queuing for remembrance quests. One player claims to have waited 25 minutes for a match. While the other side contends they cannot find matches at all when certain remembrances are activated. Now that’s putting the whole lot out for a refund, with many players dubbing the whole thing “the worst matchmaking implementation in Souls history.”

Some of the harshest complaints:

– Remembrance quests lock players out of matchmaking entirely

– No crossplay between platforms in 2024 (Seriously??)

– Revive mechanics steals all stamina and leaves you blind

– Party sizes stuck at 3 while people want duos

Meanwhile, the legit Night Reign tips remain largely ignored. A scattered few have given it a try to conclude that there are some real strategic gems on how to approach the new night-based enemies and their mechanics. One player even claimed a blind completion of the NightAspect challenge, establishing that said challenge is doable without teammates, granted, with the proper skills.

Things have gotten nasty on this divide between single-player fans and the multiplayer side. Some players are outright telling complainers to “git gud” and stick to their single player, while others chant that if you give your game multiplayer, it better fking work. It basically feels like an abject evolution of Dark Souls PvP bitterness multiplied immensely by Bloodborne chalice dungeon frustration.

The good thing, though, is a few found ways around it, such as upgrading starting gear in the mines instead of relying on matchmaking to work out their weapon, while most just want FromSoft to acknowledge the issues and push out a hotfix ASAP. Given the loud natures of these players, we’re probably going to see some sort of developer response sooner rather than later-whether that means even actual fixes or just another cryptic message about “the night devouring the reckless.”

At this point, Elden Ring’s Night Reign is actually becoming a fulfillment of its namesake by casting a dark shroud over multiplayer. Either players adjust with solo-play, suffer the broken matchmaking, or prepare for patching. In classic FromSoftware-style, though, they will almost certainly eventually get around to sorting these things… For now, the night belongs to the patient.
