Something new landed in the air for the beast-landing Dying Light: 2 million wishlist level on Steam and other places. From there, the devs took to Twitter to give thanks, and boy, could the community talk – hyped, skeptical, question-laden-with-many-still-unanswered queries for them.

Congrats first! Two million wishlist numbers are no laughing matter, especially when full gameplay has not been officially released. The official Dying Light account was very thankful and tweeted, “Thank you for 2 million wishlists! It means a lot to us, and we couldn’t have done it without you ❤️.” So sweet! However, the responses ranged from hype to confusion to demands.

@st_re_ger wasted not a moment before throwing past promises back into the devs’ faces: “So what happened about supporting DL2 for 5 years?” Oof. That refers to a studio’s commitment to taking a long-term approach to supporting Dying Light 2, which some fans believe has not been truly realized. Others, like @EnslavedGamer, want to ask just one question: “But when PS5 gameplay? :D” Fair question – show us, Techland!

Then there came the skeptics. @ZeroFreeze98 kept jesting: “2.000.000 for one dlc!??? JAAJAJ,” while @Notdictator2011 wanted to remind everybody of the raw, hard truth: “Adding to wishlist doesn’t mean purchasing it.” Sure, but still, having 2 million people at least considering buying your title is quite big.

@KC_4191 was in full hype mode, complimenting: “Yo DyingLight Congrats on 2Million Wishlists that’s incredible 👏🏻💯 well done,” while @blackzinq, riding the maximal hype train, described the devs as “great developers who really listen to the Dying Light community.” Not everyone is excited, though. @Hamidali1994 prospected, “Based on dying light 2 im not going to pay for this,” meaning some of the players are well off with their memories of the gruesome launch.

Then came the demands. @ReginaldLarson pleaded for a “survival mode please eat drink sleep survive a real harsh zombie apocalypse,” while @PlayVitor340331 requested a ton of features, including reimplementation of ragdoll physics from the first game. As usual, “Crossplay or not?” (@Collin42869917). Techland better put some words in soon.

Then, first, people debated the physical vs digital release status. @Horo221 said, “If it’s released in physical format, I’ll buy it. If it’s only available digitally, I’ll wait for a $20 offer.” @T0xicKnight_ responded, “That literally doesn’t make sense,” but hey – collectors will collect.

So, what is to come? Techland teased that even more in-depth info on Dying Light: The Beast will drop “soon,” but in gamer time, “soon” could be anywhere from next week to next year. For now, the wishlist numbers predict solid interest while the real test will come in Dying Light: The Beast delivering or disappearing under the shadow of hype as a case of overpromising and underdelivering.

Either way, the beast has to come first. Whether the road to its release is a masterpiece or a disaster, we’ll find out… eventually.
