So, the latest TWID came out, so players could feel anything under the sun in the post. Though the post explained additive melee damage for the Edge of Fate expansion in the near future, teased changes to Exotic armor, and informed players about a developer livestream scheduled for June 24 at 10:00 AM PT, just when one would have thought a happy hour for the community would commence, oh no.
Okay, so here are the basics. Additive melee damage is on rework, which means punches and slaps will literally change; exotic armor will also be dealt with (a few changes, some of which Bungie didn’t really elaborate on). And then finally, good old “tune in for the dev stream later this month.” Pretty regular, I would say.
Let the replies judge: utter chaos reigns!
Some people hype; others are burnt out from it. Benny McMan put some poetry into it, stating, “It seems like people are either A) Excited or B) Mentally Exhausted.” At this point, Garou jumped in with, “Definitely the latter,” because, well, Destiny players love toiling.
Then comes the crowd begging for content. Killer_Clown4191 bluntly put, “I just want New Content, feels like it’s been forever just to get to Edge of Fate.” And they really are right—waiting for an expansion is like watching paint dry, only this paint teases you with lore tabs.
Come to think of it—the real drama? Armor changes. Some players legitimately believe the old gear is sunset again, and others say this is just a “progression shift.” Organic Labaneh and Mike v.d. Sanden just played that back and forth like a courtroom drama:
“Sunset then!”
“If you think that you didn’t read enough.”
“Old armour will be useless.”
“You missed the point completely.”
While this conversation was ongoing, Terry Gardenier entered with the classic Destiny player request: “How about nerfing fusion rifles, slug shotguns, and scout rifles?” Because nothing unites this community quite like calling for changes to the game’s balance that may or may not actually solve anything.
Because that has to be mentioned for PvP. Burn aka TuRtLeOnALoG called the Stasis melee “so annoying in PvP,” and Bill W. threw shade on class balance, saying, “Yeah would the melees be equal for everyone or lopsided as always since the hunters need multiple strikes unlike the over powered warlocks or titans.” Titans and Warlocks are really on the radar now.
And in wilderness, Eternic slipped out, “Destiny 2 on Nintendo Switch 2 when?”
But yeah—one more week, one more TWID, another cohort of players dancing into the void or screaming into it. Things may be eventually settled during the June 24 livestream, but let’s be honest—the replies are the defining content.
For now, all we can do is procrastinate, argue, and hope that maybe—just maybe—fusion rifles will finally be nerfed. Or not. Who even knows anymore?
