In the recent days, the devs had a tweet asking people who had made it to the end in Ultimatum in Destiny 2 for their feedback. And wow, did the submissions come pouring in! The Destiny 2 community let it all hang out regarding one of the hardest trials Destiny has to offer, ranging from victorious posts to rage-filled rants about moths (yup, moths).

For starters, just in case you don’t know, Ghosts of the Deep is a dungeon launched in May 2023 on Titan. It is to stop the Lucent Hive from raising Oryx and has mechanics such as underwater oxygen and Vestige of Light. Ultimatum difficulty? Now that’s where the heat comes in: no matchmaking, -20 Power clamp, and Adept loot for anyone who can survive.

So who are these people who actually got through it? Big-time bragging from the likes of LukeCB14, who called it “life-changing,” and quester_683, who boasted about one-phasing every single boss there was. Then there were others, such as vOID744, actually admitting that he couldn’t quite get through but phoned in with hopes for next time. Then there was Victoria Pearson, calling it “frustrating” and “rage-inducing,” which feels just about right.

Others were not nearly as enthusiastic. TonyMontana222 came across as dismissive and labeled it as “pointless,” whereas AbueloInc ridiculed the loot pool, wondering if any decent weapons were really worth chasing. (Spoiler alert: There’s the Navigator Exotic Trace Rifle, but hey, to each their own.)

Then came the… unusual struggles. JayBHunter started a full-fledged war against the moths (???), whereas Echte_knackwurst said their fireteam was continuously getting mauled by them. Then RollTideJT7 blamed their side for the chaos, sharing a nightmare in which the boss kept teleporting from one spot to another in utter chaos.

LFG was, of course, rough. mikep7275 was having trouble putting together a team, whereas Relic2022 annoyedly vented about being blocked out from progressing due to co-op requirements. (Bungie, some love for solo players is well warranted!)

On the other hand, some, like ATOM_C_, had some constructive suggestions, while others, like Hunt3rLuxe, were just hoping for a buff for New Land Beyond because, supposedly, the flinch makes the gun unusable.

At the end of the day, Ghosts of the Deep Ultimatum is in the process of becoming one of those, what will you say, dividing experiences. Some after conquering turned into gods in the making. Others were stopped by moths and teleporting bosses. Yet others… well, just uninstalled the game (hello there, Reypex).

What then, is the verdict? If you feel inclined to take on a hard yet rewarding challenge, take your fireteam for this go. Just remember: moth repellent! And if you’re curious about any updates from Bungie, keep an eye out for their announcements.
