Whenever Bungie disappointed everybody with yet ONE more surprise update for Destiny 2, the Players shattered into conversation, some showering praise upon the game, some groaning aloud, while others were still confused by what even happened in the game. The Emissary, on his end, kept the old increases in gear drops for Rite of the Nine for another weekly reset ostensibly by accident, and so everybody will be going looting now. While what sounds like a good thing has already generated… let’s say… complicated responses.

So, first: the ground. The Emissary, a shadowy figure of his own kind, perhaps had a good day for once and decided to lend a hand. Active are extra drops of gear in Rite of the Nine, so that while grinding the activity at a better time, players can just hope to land upon some weapons and armor. With no strings attached, with no hidden requirement, just pure loot. Sounds good? Well, not all agreed with that.

People like @phrog_lmao just hated it for that. “Before, we could just farm the final encounter for armor,” they complained; now they have to run the entire dungeon, which is much longer. “What used to take ten minutes now takes two hours,” they explained. That could be a mood killer indeed. Some players were thinking of the day once Rite of the Nine shall pass and all changes are reversed to the dungeon being less rewarding once more. “Always one step forward, two steps backward,” came the sigh.

Then came the real dish: @collinpar0506 went bonkers discussing how anything from the past-cosmetics, emotes, shaders, ships-was being locked behind Bright Engrams with no direct purchase. “It takes so much steam out of me when I literally ‘JUST CANT’ get something that I’m willing to even buy,” they said. And, honestly? Fair enough. Meanwhile, @Toriental_VortX is begging the Emissary for some RNG, after 200 (!) runs! “Pain.”

Well, not all reactions were bitter-sweet. Some players are truly welcoming this extra loot and are having fun. @EndlessJay78 laughed about the server giving him a “massive drop of plagiarism,” with @Drayfrjg seemingly ready to try the new strat for this dungeon this weekend. So it’s a mixed bag.

On to the Adept weapons debate. A higher power-tier killing god-roll anxiety is expressed by quite a few people, some of whom, such as @firepats12, tried calming the waters: “Chill, your T3 rolls will still slap.” Classic Destiny talk: Everyone has an opinion, and all are diametrically opposed to each other.

Ugh, don’t even mention Heresy’s activity disrespect: @peateargri73152 says he’s been actively farming for five months without a single Adept SMG or LMG to show forth. In his mind, Bungie’s heart just isn’t really in it anymore. “Seems like I’ll die of cancer before you guys acknowledge Heresy activities are broken,” was his comment. A bit harsh but really, the frustration is contagious.

So yeah, a gift from the Emissary is nice, but it dredges up some ancient resentments. More loot? Always welcome! But when it comes down to Destiny 2 grind, players have thoughts—lots of them. Be it that this change stays or disappears with the next reset, one thing’s for sure: the community has never been short on feedback. Or salt. And it’s mostly salt.
