Strapped in, choombas-CD Projekt Red just dropped a bomb, and everybody’s buzzing about it. The studio behind Cyberpunk 2077 is putting some major thing on the Switch 2. Yeah, you did hear me right. The Switch 2. Not the one rotten under your TV, but the one that wasn’t even announced officially yet. Awesome, huh?

What’s the catch? A recent episode for Creator’s Voice CDPR had something to say about Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition going to the next Nintendo console. What was the tweet? A rather cryptic, “Legends are made here. What will yours be?” along with very nice Cyberpunk imagery. No date, no specs, not much at all. Just swagger. But we know that whenever CDPR comes to play, it really is sure to be massive.

But before you go screaming, “BUT THE SWITCH COULDN’T HANDLE IT”-and that’s right, the first Switch would have melted just trying to contend with everything going on in Night City, much less even call one simple function to run any of the game’s portable functions.

The Switch 2? Hardware rumors for upgrades, specs in the neighborhood of DLSS support, have been swirling about for some time. If. If that is actually true, hey, it might just be able to run Cyberpunk with moderate decency. Picture this: you are commuting, and some neat takedown of an Arasaka goon is done without anyone seeing it- simply beautiful.

What of the Ultimate Edition name? Base game is something like the poster child of an extremely unfair release (that’s the understatement of the year), but Phantom Liberty finally brought it close to what we were promised in 2020, with 2.0. So it’s a package deal with all the DLC and patches plus some exclusives then? Count us in, please.

Now, of course, comes that elephant in the room. Nintendo still hasn’t even confirmed that the Switch 2 exists. Yet with all this and all the use NVIDIA leaks, plus every insider under the sun whispering about its reveal in 2024, it’s quite an open secret. Early bird CDPR? Smart. They get to raise their own game and still hop on that next-gen hype train before it even left the station.

So, what comes next? More teasing, likely, perhaps even a trailer on the next Nintendo Direct-whenever that is. And if you still have a grudge against Cyberpunk’s own debut…this may finally give you a chance to play it. On a handle- because life hits hard.

Cyberpunk 2077: Switch 2’s Ultimate Edition will very literally usher in the end time. What end do they want? Only time will tell if a marvel of technology or just a case study is made out of it. But, hey, at least people never get bored with Night City. Stay glued to it, gonks.
