Marvel’s Challengers is showing some of the heaviest visual upgrades yet for their two most influential characters. And players needn’t wait long to get to see them. Studio has announced that Doctor Strange and Thor will feature rather cool costume changes from May 2. And oh yeah, there was the littlest teaser to spice things up a bit.
First, Doctor Strange’s Multiverse of Madness is getting a makeover. In-game, his arms enchanted with mysticism were not completely showing, which is sort of a big deal considering that you’re the Sorcerer Supreme. Well, an arm now completely visible, just like it should have been seen from the top, will now perform realistic animation spellcasting with an arm.
Next to be added is Lord of Asgard’s Thor costume, which also tended to be modified. A supposed problem with the scene regarding the cape was that it rendered a good portion of the screen unusable during play. It has been updated in design alteration to become less obstructive. Because really, no one wants to swing that hallowed hammer while a cape dances in breezes and on their line of vision.
This is exciting timing for updates, especially given the buzz that has surrounded the game over the past few months. The hero shooter quality promises to boast much already, and such little polish updates are early signs of detail attention on the part of the developing team. And besides, if they fix these types of issues just as swiftly, they will assure good news about many more major updates to come.
Of course, fans are already wondering what else might come in the package. More costumes? New heroes? A surprise villain drop at this point? No, of course, there was nothing about new beans spilled by that tweet, but we’re not waiting long now that May 2 is right around the corner.
That said, it’s good to see Marvel Rivals fine-tuning little things at this time. Because in a game where look and flair are every bit as important as gameplay, small changes like this can go a long way. So book that calendar, because May 2 is looking to be a very good day for Marvel aficionados.
And who knows what else? This could be just the tip of the iceberg. By that momentum, even the most unexpected could possibly transform Marvel Rivals into the show-stopping superhero battle we have all been waiting for.
So yeah, duck. Those costume upgrades are coming, and they look damn fine.
