Like always, Capcom had a whole montage of hype imagery topped with a great teasing playfully brought to utter confusion, topped by that same darn foot image for Monster Hunter Wilds‘ Free Title Update 2. The announcement came through their official Twitter account, inviting everyone to look out for a Capcom Spotlight today at 3 p.m. PDT / 11 p.m. BST. And this time, once more, they went for that image.
What about the update, then? Capcom stays far too vague yet. The spotlight promises a deep dive into what lies ahead for MHWilds. Free Title Update 2 is believed to feature new monsters, new gear, and probably some more of whatever this mysterious foot is supposed to belong to—by now, it’s a put-on meme.
Reaction from the players’ side was expected, really: hype by the likes of ArtiFi, saying, “I look forward to seeing what’s to come. I’m really enjoying MHWilds!” At the opposite end of the spectrum are those who are not impressed: “The audacity of calling them ‘free’ after charging 70 bucks for a clearly unfinished game,” snapped back Vietfox.
And the foot. That foot. It has been the teasing image for months, with players going mad over it. Lagiacrus (yes, that is their name) begged, “USE A DIFFERENT PICTURE PLEASEEEEE,” while AnimeAbsol half-joked, “Last time we’re seeing Lagi’s feet.” Spoiler alert: Probably not.
The speculations get crazier, with some thinking the update might drop right after the showcase, while others are hoping for a classic Monster Hunter collection on PC. There’s still the lurking unanswered question as to whether it’s all leading to a Lagiacrus reveal. Ethwal_666 said, “Capcom we already know it’s Lagiacrus, there’s no need to hide it.”
Well, some few don’t care. BombsOverHeyYah put it very succinctly: “Let’s go!!!” And truly, yes, indeed.
Whether you’re here for the monsters or the memes, or to finally find out whose foot that is, this Capcom Spotlight will fairly guarantee a whole lot of that (or at least another image to distract us).
Tune in later to observe Capcom either solving the mystery of the foot—or keep trolling us. Either way, something awaits for MHWilds players. Probably. Maybe. We’ll find out.
