When players asked for a faithful recreation of the Vanilla World of Warcraft experience, Blizzard listened – even if it took them a bit more than a decade.

Of course, being based around the Vanilla experience, and being such a faithful recreation of it, many of the issues that came with the original release of the game can appear from time to time. Such seems to be the case with the Ahn’Qiraj War Efforts event.

Earlier this year, Blizzard released the fifth phase of content for the project with the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj and the events that came with it. After completing the server-wide Opening of the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj, a server was given access to the raids and the content therein.

However, there seemed to be a few glitches, both for US and EU servers. Players had noticed that the turn-ins intended to complete the War Effort requirements had seemingly stopped. The realms Judgement, Dragonfang, and Sulthraze all experienced the cessation.

In response, Blizzard could only recommend that players send in bug reports so that the developers would see the issue and issue a fix. Unfortunately, it seems that the bug solution never could squish it, as the requirements continued to go unmet, the gates remaining closed.

Instead of squishing the bug, it seems that Blizzard chose to override it. By reset next week for World of Warcraft: Classic, the Ahn’Qiraj War Supply requirements will be autocompleted to fulfill the needed amounts.

“On Tuesday, October 6, all WoW Classic realms that have not completed their AQ War Supply turn-ins will see them autocomplete to 100%,” Blizzard announced today. “Immediately thereafter, the supply delivery period will begin on each realm. We look forward to seeing you in Silithus!”

The requirements glitching out isn’t the only reason that some servers have the gates closed, though. Some servers have a massive population imbalance between the factions, which makes it so that one faction may have a minor population.

Since it’s a server-wide endeavor, low-population realms take longer to complete the requirements than those that are at max capacity take simply due to having fewer hands, as well. With fewer people able to gather the items that need to be donated to open the gates, it inevitably takes a significant amount of time versus the much quicker end to the event on max-population realms.

Either way, Blizzard has found it necessary to step in and end the tumult. Come the realm reset on Tuesday, October 6th, the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj will be opened, whether it be by completed requirements of overriding an obnoxious bug.
