Players have spent the majority of World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth farming up a few different resources, the expansion having made use of several different currencies over its lifespan.

Blizzard has announced that this farming will be reset – or otherwise removed, in the case of one of the currencies being altered. While not an uncommon thing for the developers to do on the lead up to a new expansion, some players are still a bit upset.

Players will have their Honor and Titan Residuum removed leading into the World of Warcraft: Shadowlandsexpansion, both being converted to the monetary currency of silver.

Honor is always reset leading into a new expansion so that players aren’t grabbing all of the best items off of the PvP vendors at the launch, walking into the new expansion’s battlegrounds ready to destroy everyone with the top-tier gear.

Titan Residuum, being specific to World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth is going to be converted into silver without there being another use for it. Based on buying Azerite gear, a mechanic that won’t be returning, it’s unlikely that Blizzard intends to do anything else with the resource.

It’s unknown what the exact amount will be with the conversion rate, but given that they’re using silver instead of gold, players aren’t hopeful that it will be that useful of an amount.

“When Shadowlands launches at 3:00 p.m. PST on November 23, all Titan Residuum that you have on your character(s) will be converted to Silver and provided to you,” Blizzard writes in their announcement. “Additionally, at that same time, there will be a PvP conversion of Honor to Silver, and your Conquest counter (at the top of the PvP tab) will be reset to zero.”

While some have been meeting this announcement with a bit of annoyance, feeling that their farming was for nothing, others expected nothing less. This is something that Blizzard does every new expansion, so most players aren’t met by surprise.

A good tip that many players are sharing is for others to go ahead and spend their Honor and Residuum on purchasable gear and items to vendor. These items tend to vendor for a decent amount of gold, so you’ll end up making significantly more than the silver Blizzard intends to provide.

Honor will be earnable soon enough, so players won’t have to worry. The conversion is coming right at the launch on November 23rd, so there’s plenty of time for players to spend their currencies to get a bit of extra gold.
