Ubisoft has spilled some spicy lore regarding Title Update 1.0.6, making rusty players want to have a meltdown over Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This update will go live online on June 25, promising to bring Nightmare difficulty, new questlines, new characters, and some quality of life improvements. The official tweet taunted, “Rufino, how do you wanna do this?” Which, honestly, just creates more questions. Who is Rufino? What are we going to do? And why is he blocking some noir backdrop?
Good stuff! Let’s break this down: Nightmare difficulty, just as the name suggests, is terribly tough and downright unfair; my guess is, an innocent bystander would scowl in extreme rage, aiming right the first time. If any of you masochists actually felt that the game was not hard enough, now’s your chance. More questlines should mean more lore, more fighting, and more delicious historical drama. New characters? Rufino is most likely one of them. However, Ubisoft is so far keeping the rest under wraps.
The replies to the tweet are gaseous: a wild mixture of hype, skeptic viewpoints, and outright chaos. Some players will be begging for a New Game Plus (@ouijawhor3 and @Specter_97 to be exact), only to dismiss the game as a flop (@HamSammich523, we see you). Then there’s @NightwingG1 throwing shade on everybody with emoji spam-stay raw, dude. Meanwhile, @TheRealZephryss himself is theorizing around Rufino’s powers-always there is someone, right?
One thing is for sure: the Assassin’s Creed community never is short of opinions. Some are hungry for the update (@hangryhiggs), while others have since jumped on Ghost of Yotei (@Yleyva87). And while we’re at it, don’t forget the now-or-never comparisons to other games? @Typo_master_ is so casually reminding us that Death Stranding 2 is coming soon. Thanks, mate.
So here’s some real dirt: timing is something! June 25 ain’t too far away, so Ubisoft is not wasting much time. Either as a reaction to feedback from many players or as a means of keeping the game fresh regardless, it seems to be a smart tactic. Now, with everybody talking about performance fixes (@franchisefanat2) and legacy outfits (@Wrench_000), one thing’s for sure: the players actually do have a laundry list.
Will Update 1.0.6 really deliver? Time alone will tell. One thing for sure, though: Assassin’s Creed Shadows are far from done, and so are the players. Whether you are there for the challenge or tale or just watching it play out, the 25th of June will be a landmark day, or well, a day to rage quit, depending on what nightmare difficulty translates into!
