Ubisoft has presented the quintessentially required patch, Title Update 1.0.5, for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, rolling out May 27th at 12 PM UTC. From much-needed improvements to parkour, new photo mode features, and quite a few bug fixes across all platforms, this update received some community love while a lot…well, have expressed mixed feelings towards it.

In this update, there are side and back ejections for parkour! That will fill the need for fluid movement amid the dense Japanese environments. It’s really the second time the parkour has been altered for fans to use, some of whom are now really scratching their heads: “Why wasn’t this stuff in the game day one?” Put simply by Ryan GoFett2490: “This is absolutely missing content. That’s twice now that parkour improvements have come post launch. That should always already be there.” Oof.

Now come the changes to photo mode. No word on specifics yet, but Shadows looks so gorgeous that you can never have too many ways to capture those moments! Kiyoka was less impressed, stating that the recent unlockables or “only paid skins lol nothing new to the game.” JessieLameque, in stark contrast, issued praise for everything good in Shadows and claimed Naoe is a “good character” with “great story-telling.” So those are totally opposite views.

These bug fixes are targeting every platform, so those caught in glitches had good days. Thomas once more decisively described a hideout deco bug: “Still nothing about placing other items inside the same square in hideouts. I want to put things up against bamboo fences without having to sacrifice the other side.” That’s…weirdly specific but valid!

Series S players are still waiting for that 60fps patch though. Ågørã didn’t even shy away: “We need a patch for 60 fps on series s baddd.” Capitan Qwark sarcastically replied, “Please, I have a problem with the game. A MAJOR problem. There are no assassins. What happened? Do I have to reinstall my game?” Damn.

If you want nitty gritty details, the full patch notes are available on the Ubisoft site. But all the interesting drama are in the replies: A few players are arguing on whether these updates can count as “content” or just very basic fixes. Salami attempted to argue that improvements are content and…it did not go well for her. Ryan fired back: “No the fuck that is not content. That’s just QOL features. I bet you think skins are content too huh?” And then Casey Payne chimed in, “We don’t even have hoods in cutscenes and you wanna defend them.” The struggle is real.

Then, there’s…whatever this is: Sail2food started talking about “racist execs” and “WEF elites,” which uh…what? They escalated real fast. Most normal comment winner goes to Jarvis, for simply stating: “The kills become repetitive.”

At the end of the day, it’s just another update for a game that’s limping. Some people love it, some think it was thrown away, and a whole lot just want their goddamn 60 frames. So the parkour updates sound good; they might want to check it out tomorrow and see if it’s an improvement in the feel or not. Or don’t. Your call. Whatever comes up, building the discourse is…entertaining!
