World of Warcraft has seen a sizeable surge in popularity throughout much of 2020, and for good reason. With the new Shadowlands expansion getting closer every day, the player base has been whipped into a great amount of hype.
More than anything, though, the recent weeks have seen the inclusion of a double-experience and double-reputation buff. Blizzard put these two buffs in to make the game a bit more enjoyable for the player base that was stuck at home during social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic – a gesture which the player base resolutely enjoyed.
With so many players returning, though, there are countless players that are behind on content. Blizzard releases content intermittently throughout the lifespan of an expansion, so taking a break means you come back to find a huge amount of new, unexplored content.
Sometimes, this is much more overwhelming than it sounds like it would be. Thankfully, the folks over at Wowhead have released a thorough guide on how to complete one of the most highly-sought skills in World of Warcraft: flying!
When a new expansion is released, Blizzard always makes it so that players are unable to use their flying mounts immediately. Primarily, this is because allowing players to fly over a zone and directly to an objective ruins immersion and heavily lowers the quality of enjoyment that a zone can offer.
However, as time in an expansion goes on, the developers will put in some way to unlock flying. Generally, this is a Pathfinder achievement, a long-time grind that shows you’ve experienced most of the content.
Earning Pathfinder – sometimes a two-part achievement – allows you to fly through an expansion’s zones, but earning it isn’t always easy. Wowhead’s guide, which you can find embedded in their tweet above, does a fantastic job of laying out how to complete the requirements.
These requirements are as follows:
- Complete Battle for Azeroth Explorer, Wide World of Quests, Ready for War, Azerothian Diplomat, and Loremaster of Kul Tiras/Zandalar Forever! achievements to unlock Battle for Azeroth Pathfinder, Part One
- Complete Battle for Azeroth Explorer Part One, Explore Nazjatar, Explore Mechagon, The Unshackled/Waveblade Ankoan, and Rustbolt Rebellion to unlock Battle for Azeroth Pathfinder, Part Two
Completing only the first part of the achievement will grant you 20% increased mounted movement speed within Kul Tiras and Zandalar, but won’t allow you to fly. Once you’ve earned the first half of the meta-achievement, completing the second half will grant your flying abilities.
Most of these achievements are easy enough to complete. The exploration quests simply require you to explore through each continent’s zones, after all. However, the time it takes to reach the reputation requirements that some achievements hold can be a heavy time sink.
