The requirements for playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on a personal computer have recently been lowered, which is good news for gamers who want to play Warzone 2 but don’t want to invest in a new rig because it means their existing one will work for at least one more game in the interim.

However, as is the case with the vast majority of live-service video games, Activision has said that the system requirements for Modern Warfare 2’s PC version may be subject to change over the duration of the game’s lifecycle.

Surprisingly low requirements have been placed on the minimum PC. You can play Modern Warfare 2 with a computer that has an Intel Core i3-6100 processor, 8 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM), and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 graphics card.

Of course, you will still need 72 GB of storage, and Activision has stated that extra storage space may be necessary for required game upgrades. Because the previous Call of Duty games have a reputation for having excessive amounts of saved data, you should get ready to set aside a sizeable portion of the storage space on your hard disk.

This falls right in line with Steam’s typical user in its most recent hardware survey, and Activision claims that it will deliver sixty frames per second (fps) on high settings in the vast majority of gameplay scenarios. You should look at the recommendations for Competitive or Ultra 4K if you want better framerates or high-rez assets, both of which will require an additional 32 gigabytes of storage space. Be aware that in order to utilize more advanced graphics features such as ray tracing, DLSS, or FSR, you will need a more recent graphics card, such as one from the RTX 30-series or the Radeon RX 5000-series.
