Empire of Sin is a pretty promising strategy game in development from the people at Romero Games. It was first teased in June of 2019 and ever since then, has built a pretty loyal following. It puts players back in the 1920s during the Prohibition days in Chicago.

This era has so much style and mob intrigue, which are elements that certainly come through with the title’s gameplay and visuals. Players have the chance to become an infamous mob boss and start building up their criminal empire. You have a lot of historical-inspired characters like Al Capone and Goldie Garneau.

If you’ve been enticed by the premise, there is finally light at the end of the developmental tunnel. Empire of Sin will be available on December 1st as reported in a recent pre-order trailer. It will be available on all major systems, including the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

In the trailer, we see the beautiful Goldie Garneau. She’s a singer by day and a talented mob boss by night. It shows her carefully moving pieces on the chess board in relation to other gangs in Chicago. She has it all figured out as others struggle to retain what little power they have left.

Some of the turn-based combat is shown. If you’re familiar with the XCOM series, then you’ll feel right at home in Empire of Sin. It has similar mechanics where you have to play your cards just right. Thinking two steps ahead of your opponent is something you’ll have to master pretty early on.

It also shows some of the progression system. The more assets and power you accumulate, the more ways you can upgrade your mob boss and accompanying gang members. Which stats you upgrade will impact how you build up your crime empower. The stakes will always be high, giving added weight to your decisions.

With every victory, you can bet defeat is waiting around the corner. It’s hard to get out alive in the mob business, but that doesn’t mean you can’t try and have a whole lot of fun in the process.
