Covid-19 had such a brutal impact on many people and industries in 2020. 2021 is looking to be a little better in this regard as some of the country is opening up, but there are still precautions in place. That’s a good thing because it would be devastating for the country to experience many more months of this terrible disease.

While the country rides this pandemic out still, Sony has enacted their second Play at Home Initiative. The first one happened last year in April, which saw them give away some decent offerings. It was their way of urging gamers to stay home, stay safe, and have fun playing video games.

This second initiative doesn’t look to be any different. At this current time, Ratchet and Clank is now free on the PlayStation 4 and 5. It’s the remake from 2016, which basically is a re-imagining of the first game in the series.

Developed by Insomniac Games, Ratchet and Clank released to mostly positive reviews for its gameplay, improved graphics, and new designs. It’s definitely a must-play experience if you’ve followed this action-adventure series over the years.

What fans have really loved about this remake was the introduction of both new and old elements. You have the dynamic duo Ratchet and Clank back at it again, with most of the segments being executed by Ratchet. Clank acts as a traversal assistant and does most of his fighting using hand-to-hand combat. He is also pivotal for solving puzzles.

The environments have never been more dynamic than in this remake and the new weapons give even returning fans of the series new excitement when taking out hostile threats.

There are multiple paths that players can enjoy in each environment, but each level is laid out in linear fashion for the most part. All in all, it’s a pretty solid remake that incorporates some of the best elements in the series while introducing new aspects that further it along.

If you haven’t had the chance to play it, now’s a good time thanks to its free price tag. Again, you can pick it up on both the PS4 and PS5. The pandemic seems to be winding down, but until it’s officially over, at least Sony is giving stay-at-home gamers a fun way to pass the time. You could certainly do a lot worse in terms of free offerings too.
