Looking back to the Dallas Fuel‘s inaugural season at the Overwatch League, the team never really find stability and the success that their fans are expecting. From xQc, Seagull, EFFECT, and Taimou, the team has consistently signed and released players throughout the three years of the league. Today, the organization announces that it will not be resigning nine of their players, to confirm rumors of reconstructing their lineup, but has remained one player.

Players have been declaring their plans and free-agent status on their social media accounts ahead of the official announcement from the Fuel. However, the team’s tweet answers the question if there is still a possibility for them to resign from the org.

The players who are released are:

  • Tank players Lucas “Note” Meissner, Ashley ” Trill” Powell, and Youngjin “Gamsu” Noh
  • DPS players Stefan “Onigod” Fiskerstrand and Dylan “aKm” Bignet
  • Support players Benjamin “uNKOE” Chevasson, William “Crimzo” Hernandez, Nolan “Paintbrush” Edwards, and Wonsik “Closer” Jung

The tweet also reads, “We want to thank them for all of their hard work, passion, dedication, and time on the Fuel. We wish them the absolute best in their future endeavors.” Since the announcement, it has been tough on Fuel fans to accept the massive overhaul.

Former Rogue teammates aKm and uNKOE tweeted that they are both retiring from Overwatch and moving on with Riot Games’ new FPS, VALORANT. On October 6, Chevasson writes that he can finally talk about his plans with the new game and that he will explain in the future why he stopped playing Blizzard‘s game and his 2020 season with the Fuel. Both players have seen no playing time in the last OWL season.

Gamsu, on the other hand, went the other direction. He is also retiring from Overwatch, but he is going back to the old one instead of steering to the new FPS. Before his 2016 debut with the CONBOX in the said first-person shooter, he has a prominent and respectable player in League of Legends. He played from 2013 with big eSports names such as Fnatic, Dignitas, and Samsung Blue. The 25-year old pro was a main tank for OWL teams, as well, namely the Boston Uprising, Shanghai Dragons, and the Dallas Fuel.

As mentioned, the Envy-owned franchise is retaining their DPS player Doha to rebuild their 2021 roster. “We are thrilled to announce that we have extended @Doha_ow’s contract for the 2021 season,” the Fuel tweets.
