Amazon, the largest online retailer, held the 2019 Prime Day last week, and the event was a success in the US, the UK, and Australia. Prime members had the chance to score deals on a wide range of categories, including gaming hardware and gadgets. The event attracted over 2 million more transactions than Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined. After this year’s exemplary performance, Amazon Prime Day is now the best sale event in the US. Interestingly, photographers had the chance of purchasing a $13,000 camera lens for just $94, which is a crazy discount though experts claim that it was a mistake.

But, one of the most noteworthy things about the sale is that gamers were on the lookout for Nintendo deals and discounts. Consequently, “Nintendo Switch” was the most searched product on Amazon overtaking “Instant Pot,” which is still a hot keyword considering the popularity of the 3rd generation programmable pressure cooker. This is according to data released by Hitwise, a leading online competitive intelligence company.

In the US Amazon Prime Day 2019 sale, “Nintendo Switch” garnered over 1.9 million searches representing a +10 YoY change in rank compared to last year’s sale. The Japanese console manufacturer also dominated the event in the UK having been searched on Amazon UK for a record 1.13 million times, a +4 YoY change in rank.

In the US, “Nintendo Switch” was closely followed by “TV” at 1.81 million. “Headphones” was another interesting keyword associated with gaming and was searched 1.3 million times, a decline of -1 compared to 2018 Amazon Prime.

But then, the fact that “Nintendo Switch” was the most searched internal keyword on Amazon during Prime Day doesn’t make it the best selling product.

In the US, the Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote was the best selling product in Prime Day 2019 with 638,500 units sold. Fire TV Stick 4K with Alexa Voice Remote was second with 334,800 units sold.

In the UK Amazon also stole the show with the FireTV Stick 4K Ultra HD recording 58,600 purchases. On the other hand, 41,600 of the Fire TV Stick 4K with Alexa Voice Remote variants went off the shelves. Also notable is the Sony Playstation Classic Console which came in fifth with 14,500 purchases.

Nintendo Switch might have performed well in terms of searches but not sales. The searches were related to the fact that the new Nintendo Lite was trending. As for the Fire Sticks, their popularity among Android gaming enthusiasts, and crazy discounts definitely made it the best selling product on Amazon Prime 2019.
