Metal Gear in Concert has been an annual event featuring music from the Metal Gear series. The Symphony Orchestra performs some of the most beloved songs from the series. Moments from the game are projected on a giant screen behind the performers in HD.
Due to the COVID-19 situation, Konami has announced the event will be livestreamed. The event is not free to attend and is restricted to users who can purchase tickets from Japanese stores online. The tickets are available now for the performance next month. If fans want to watch it later, they will have access to the live recording until October 14.
The event will also be held in-person but with limited seating available. The tickets for the live-event are over twice the amount of the livestreamed event. Fans can purchase tickets for the event now online and will also receive an olive green face mask with the Metal Gear in Concert logo. The masks will be given out on the day of the performance to ticketholders at the venue.
The Metal Gear in Concert will be held on October 11 at the Tokyo International Forum Hall A. The event is meant for older visitors, and pre-school age children and younger are not permitted to attend. The performance is expected to last around 2 hours and 30 minutes, with a 20-minute break in-between.
Metal Gear in Concert 2020 will be performed by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Hirofumi Kurita. Donna Burke, who is known for her voice work in the Metal Gear and Silent Hill series, will also be in attendance.
In previous years, the concert contained both background music like “Main Theme,” and “Encounter,” “Father and Son.” Burke performed some of the memorial vocal songs such as “The Best is Yet to Come,” “Snake Eater,” and “Heavens Divide,” in front of the live audience.
While ticket holders on-site will receive a free branded face mask, the events often offer exclusive merchandise only sold at the event. The products range from apparel, accessories, flashlights, tote bags, and more.
This year, visitors cannot choose their seats, and additional COVID-19 precautions will be in place. The official website for the event states that cleaning, disinfection, and ventilation will be strengthened inside of the building, so visitors are encouraged to wear masks and not gather in groups to discuss the performance in the lobby or in the audience seats. All guests will have their temperatures taken before entering.
Metal Gear In Concert 2020 will be held on October 11.
