DOOM Eternal is one of the most hyped games of the last few years. The DOOM franchise is already incredibly legendary, often credited for a complete redefining – and in some ways, creation – of the modern FPS genre. The high-octane speed, pumped-up weaponry, and brutal gore of the franchise brings in anyone who wants to spend a few hours charging through demons and breaking them apart with your bare hands as a djenty metal soundtrack rages on in the background.
But along with the hype of the game comes the pretty demanding specs. We’ve spoken a few times on the impressive ability the upcoming title will have to push your gaming rig to its limits, such as the game’s ability to run at 1,000 frames per second, but now we know exactly what it’ll take to run the game with.
If you check DOOM Eternal‘s Steam page, it’ll only tell you that you’ll require a 64-bit processor and operating system, but a few have reported on the full specs. They’re pretty demanding, so if you’ve been thinking about upgrading your gaming rig, it might be a good time to check around for any decent deals.
The minimum requirements to run the game are as follows:
- OS: 64-bit Windows 7/64-Bit Windows 10
- Processor: Intel Core i5 @ 3.3 GHz or better, or AMD Ryzen 3 @ 3.1 GHz or better
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 (4GB), GTX 1060 (6GB), GTX 1650 (4GB) or AMD Radeon R9 290 (4GB)/RX 470 (4GB)
- Storage: 50 GB available space
- Additional Notes: (1080p / 60 FPS / Low Quality Settings)
Of course, that’s only the minimum requirements. While you’ll be able to run the game with the above specs, you’ll be missing out on a good deal of the gore and graphics, as well as probably running into a handful of other issues. If you want to see the game in the full glory, the developers recommend the following specs:
- OS: 64-bit Windows 10
- Processor: Intel Core i7-6700K or better, or AMD Ryzen 7 1800X or better
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (8GB), RTX 2060 (8GB) or AMD Radeon RX Vega56 (8GB)
- Storage: 50 GB available space
- Additional Notes: (1440p / 60 FPS / High Quality Settings)
You can see at a quick glance that there isn’t a single thing between the two that remains the same with the exception of the required memory – which obviously doesn’t affect graphical quality. It’s definitely a demanding game, and you’ll probably be pushing most rigs to the limit with running a game like DOOM Eternal. Still, if DOOM (2016) is anything to go off of, the upcoming sequel will undoubtedly be more than worth the system strain.
