Now that the upcoming CD Projekt Red game, Cyberpunk 2077, is less than a year away from being released, the developers are beginning to share more details about the game, which is currently scheduled to be released on April 16, 2020.

CD Projekt Red has a long history with developing third-person RPGs like The Witcher, but developing an open-world first-person shooter is relatively new to them. Fortunately, the developer is aware of this, and they’re also aware that some of their fans might not enjoy first-person shooters.

During a recent interview with WCCFTech, CD Projekt Red’s Alvin Liu revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 will have multiple difficulty settings, much like in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Liu also said that there will be settings to help acclimate players who prefer third-person games. Unfortunately, specific details regarding what those settings will be weren’t provided during the interview.

“We want to tell a story and maybe you’re a big fan of The Witcher and you’re not comfortable playing a shooter, we have settings available for that,” said Liu. “If you recall from last year’s demo, we had a weapon called the smart gun, which helps you aim. The bullets were much slower and usually a bit weaker. But if your aiming isn’t your forte, you can always pick up the smart gun.”

CD Projekt Red plans to reveal more regarding Cyberpunk 2077 at the upcoming Gamescom event. As of this writing, it’s unclear what the developer plans to reveal at the event, but one would assume that it’ll be the gameplay that was shown behind closed doors during last month’s E3 event.

It was recently reported that CDPR has three different teams devoted to developing Cyberpunk2 2077, with each team being responsible for different components. As of right now, it’s unclear what each team’s role is, but rumor has it that one of them is working on developing the multiplayer aspect of the game, which hasn’t yet been announced.

Aside from Gwent, CD Projekt Red hasn’t created a Witcher game that featured an online-based multiplayer mode, as it probably wouldn’t make sense for the series. However, with Cyberpunk 2077 being a first-person shooter, it only makes sense to include some type of multiplayer mode.

Of course, you shouldn’t rule out the possibility of a Battle Royale mode being added to Cyberpunk at some point after the game is released. But for now, all we know is that the game will be a single-player experience.
