World of Warcraft: Classic has been popular since release, but there’s been a good number of issues plaguing it from the first day. Blizzard has been working on a few quality of life fixes, some of which have gone live today.
Earlier today, we discussed the extension of some of the restrictions of character realm transfers, where Blizzard has added new realms that will not be allowed to be targeted for character transfers. The effort comes in the continued fight to help with population issues.
However, queue times and overpopulation are far from the only issues affecting the title at the moment. Blizzard unveiled two new changes coming to the server that are meant to help improve teh quality of life for the player base.
The first of these is focused on the PvP Battleground, Warsong Gulch. Blizzard discussed their effort to fix some issues that players have been exploiting on the map.
“We’ve identified a number of locations int he battleground where clever players have found ways to get to a place they were never intended to go,” Blizzard states. “These exploits are decidedly unfair, so we’re putting a stop to them.”
In fixing the issue, Blizzard added a few invisible gates that block the unintended paths. In cases where this wasn’t possible, the out-of-bounds location is simply a fatal location to inhabit.
In terms of the black lotus spawn, Blizzard is making some massive changes to the rarest, most sought after herb in the game. While the spawn rate remains as low as it was in Vanilla, the increased population and other “social factors” of the game makes it much more scarce due to players jumping on it as fast as possible.
The original spawn rate was based around a technical limitation that made it so only ten locations per node type could be active in the same zone simultaneously. Now that technology has improved, that limitation is removed, though the developers are still hesitant to make changes away from the original WoW.
“We’re going to increase the spawn rate of Black Lotus, and we’re going to add many additional possible spawn locations in each of the Black Lotus zones,” Blizzard announced. Additionally, the developers will be making it so that players cannot see the herb on their minimap or on-screen while dead without having max herbalism.
Blizzard’s final change is much more simple: when a player is using the mailbox, they will be considered “busy” to incoming trade requests. This prevents griefers from forcing players to close out their mailbox with a sudden trade pop-up, helping make the game a bit less obnoxious for players that don’t enjoy trolling each other.
