An ambitious crossover mod for Resident Evil 2 incorporates characters from Final Fantasy 7 so that Tifa can save Cloud from a monstrous Sephiroth. Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy 7 are both cherished classics that have received well-reviewed remakes in recent years. Part two, titled Final Fantasy Rebirth, will be released in late 2023 as part of the ongoing Final Fantasy 7 remake.

Mods for both the Resident Evil and Final Fantasy games have been created by fans. Some alter the shaders and gameplay, but the majority alter the character models. The most popular mods alter the clothing of the characters or replace them with someone else. Mr. X, for example, may be replaced by a creepily happy Pikachu who goes around the corridors. When it comes to modifying, it appears that nothing is impossible.

A fan made a modification that brought characters from Final Fantasy 7 into Resident Evil 2, modifying notable moments such that Cloud, Tifa, and Sephiroth now star in them. The scene is depicted as follows: Mr. X has Leon cornered in the parking garage and is ready to choke him to death until Ada saves him by driving a SWAT truck into the terrifying adversary in the viral clip that was developed and released on Twitter by Yic17Studio.

Nevertheless, with these modifications, Leon is replaced by Cloud, Ada is transformed into Tifa, and Mr. X is replaced by Sephiroth, Final Fantasy 7’s most terrifying antagonist. The sequence plays out as it normally would, complete with the original voice lines and animation, but now it also includes elements inspired by Final Fantasy.

As in character as it is for Tifa to take the wheel and perform a daring rescue, one could wish Aerith was driving in this scene. The remake emphasized Aerith’s rougher side, such as the iconic FF7R scene in which she weaponized a steel chair. After everything Sephiroth has done to her, seeing Aerith slam Sephiroth into a concrete wall with a SWAT truck could have been extremely rewarding.
