Blizzard has been hard at work getting everything ready for the upcoming World of Warcraft: Shadowlands expansion. Set to release on November 23rd after being delayed in October, there’s plenty for players to turn their eyes to.

To keep hype going, the developers have been releasing a series of videos that give us a glimpse into the zones of the Shadowlands, with the Ardenweald and Maldraxxus also having received trailers of this sort.

Bastion is the home of the Kyrian covenant, a land that prizes justice and purity above all else – stripping away emotions and memories for beings of pure holy being. Here, the land itself is imbued with virtues, an aesthetic that carries through in architecture and populace.

There’s plenty to see here, but one of the first things some may notice is the resounding musical score. The soundtrack of Bastion is filled with soaring strings and pounding drums, bringing a powerful feeling to the zone as a whole.

Another thing that we get a glance at is the workers of the land of Bastion, which much of the community has now dubbed “Swolekin.” These owl-like humanoids are the working force of Bastion, repairing and constructing the various structures and constructs of the zone and interacting with players.

We also get a glimpse into the Elysian Hold, the primary location for much of the activities of the Kyrian covenant. Players that intend to pledge their service to the Kyrians would do well to memorize as much of the Elysian Hold as possible, as they’ll be spending a good chunk of time there.

As the views continue, we have plenty to see – Kyrian ascendants flying about with wings, fallen constructs, aspirants training with each other, and armies marching. We see larger constructs and darker enemies as well, giving hints towards what we may fight.

Throughout it all, we get a wonderful glance at what we’ll see when we step past the gates and into the land of Bastion for the first time. Like the other zones, Bastion has a very exact and distinct aesthetic that simply can’t be mistaken for others.

As the expansion comes closer and closer, Blizzard will almost certainly give more peeks in. Revendreth is the final zone for us to see, so stay tuned for a sneak peek into the land of the Venthyr!
