As a warning, we’ll be discussing the upcoming World of Warcraft: Shadowlands expansion in this article, so spoilers ahead!
Blizzard has been hard at work with the upcoming release of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. Pushed back from its original launch date, Blizzard has set it to release now on the 23rd of November – World of Warcraft‘s sixteenth anniversary.
In doing so, the developers have a lot on their hands – constant holidays as the year unwinds, patch after patch to tune the game, and making sure that the release doesn’t feel a negative impact from other concurrent events like the aforementioned anniversary celebration.
On top of it all, the developers have to keep the hype going for fans that want to see more and more as the date comes closer. On this, Blizzard has no issue keeping up.
They’ve begun releasing a Shadowlands from Above series, showing the zones that players will be spending most of their time in with an overhead bird’s eye view flying through the zone. Of these, they’ve released three – Bastion, Ardenweald, and as we’ll discuss here, Maldraxxus.
Maldraxxus is touted as the military might of the Shadowlands, tasked with the protection. Many will recognize much of the aesthetic, as Maldraxxus is also a powerful font of necromantic energies and undead creations, which has been incorporated onto Azeroth time and time again.
With this video, which you can watch from where we’ve embedded it above, players see a strong glimpse at the locations of Maldraxxus that we’ll be adventuring through.
One of these primary locations is the Seat of the Primus, the sanctum of the Necrolords covenant that calls Maldraxxus homes. This is one of the primary hubs that players sworn to the Necrolords will be spending time, so getting to see it from above like this is a wonderful touch.
That’s far from the only thing to see, though – players were able to get a glance at some of the mobs that we can expect to encounter within Maldraxxus, such as the Plague House remnants. As the name suggests, these creatures are leftover from the destruction of the House of Plagues, one of the Houses to fall in the plight of the Shadowlands.
There’s so much more to see, but this little taste in the Shadowlands from Above series was a wonderful touch from the developers. We have about three weeks left until we can step into the Shadowlands themself, so make sure that you have everything in order for the launch of the upcoming expansion!
