Spotify and the Nintendo Switch seem like a match made in Heaven. The music streaming service is already available on Sony’s Playstation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One, but not on the Nintendo Switch, which is a shame, considering that the Switch’s portability makes it the most suitable candidate for listening to music.
It’s not an unpopular idea, either. The developers at Spotify are extremely open to hearing community feedback and let users communicate all sorts of ideas through their website. As it turns out, a lot of users want the service on the Switch. One user posted the suggestion back in April of 2017 and the post has since attracted exactly 11,000 likes.

That many likes, of course, prompted Spotify to respond, but it certainly wasn’t the response everyone was hoping to hear.
We’re always working on improving the Spotify experience across platforms, but we don’t have any further information to share at the moment. It should also be noted that we typically don’t announce integrations with third parties in advance.
The wording is a bit vague, which is generally par for the course when it comes to this sort of stuff. There is room for hope in the message, especially the part about Spotify not announcing partnerships in advance. That’s essentially them telling everybody that if Spotify is coming to Switch, they wouldn’t necessarily announce it, so no news doesn’t automatically mean bad news.
The more disheartening aspect of this is that the post has been moved to the “closed ideas” section of the site, which seems to mean that the staff at Spotify don’t want to hear about it anymore. The question then becomes whether they’re no longer listening to that particular feedback because it’s already in the works or it just can’t be done.
Even if it can’t be done right now, that certainly doesn’t mean it can’t be done in the future, which is why Spotify responded with such an open message. Of course the company would want Switch integration. They would want integration wherever possible and it’s firmly cemented at this point that Switch integration is something the fans definitely want.
One would imagine that it’s got to be high up on Spotify’s priority list and that, if they’re not able to do it, it’s because it’s out of their hands. There’s certainly no reason to give up hope, but without knowing what (if anything) is standing in the way, fans shouldn’t hold their breath, either.
