It has been a great honor for Wonderland’s Final Fantasy VII characters to attack the cute PlayStation robot! This is the news you want to hear. The official Final Fantasy VII account recently got the world boiling over since it announced that these two iconic characters are now part of Astro Bot territory.
The tweet simply read, “Presenting two 1st Class additions to #Astrobot!” coupled with a slick image of Cloud and Sephiroth in their Astro Bot caricatures, which immediately stirred buzz. And really, who would not go ga-ga? That miniature Cloud Buster Sword along with an adorable-yet-foreboding Sephiroth standing there: that’s the crossover we want to keep us warm.
In the reply thread, there were deed responses, some disputing: “Cloud was never 1st class,” referring to Cloud’s… let us say complicated military ranking in the original game. Another person chimed, “What do you mean he trips multiple times while running to his spot?” since Cloud is far from known for his grace.
Then came the requests. One fan pleaded for clean art versions for use as phone wallpapers; another demanded that Tifa and Aerith get the same treatment: “Sad we didn’t get Tifa and Aerith, but this is awesome nonetheless!” expressed one player. And honestly? Fair. The entire gang has got to be Astro Bot-ified.
But the real-one, in all caps- highlight? Everybody losing their minds over Sephiroth animations. One other player was extremely happy about “the details of Sephiroth casting spells and hitting his Octaslash,” and honestly, same. If anything, Astro Bot excels in turning iconic moves into these adorable little robot versions.
Some were not impressed, of course. Another said, “Took y’all long enough,” while one sarcastically asked if Cloud and Sephiroth actually deserved to be called “1st class.” (We see all of you, Final Fantasy lore nerds.)
Best of all? We have players who have found and played the Sephiroth stage in Astro Bot and are posting clips glorifying the tiny villain wreaking havoc in the cutest way possible. “Got both of them already (especially Sephiroth stage on Astrobot 😅),” one player tweeted, so much hype is very, very real.
So what does this mean for Astro Bot and Final Fantasy VII fans? Another PlayStation genius-smart crossover with an ounce of nostalgia and a splash of bright new energy. Based on the trend, this could easily foreshadow the arrival of many more iconic characters that will soon join Astro’s world. Fingers crossed for Tifa and Aerith next as, let’s face it, they really deserve to be there.
For now, let’s take a moment to relish that Cloud and Sephiroth are out here living their best robot lives. And if you still haven’t played Astro Bot, I really do not know what’s stopping you yet. That is top-tier gaming cuteness mixed with all the greatness in RPGs.
