The title previously had delayed release dates due to some issues. It was originally planned for release for 2019 but was pushed back.

The official description states: “This classic 3D dungeon-crawler remains true to its roots, with all the deep and involving gameplay fans have come to know and love. These beloved dungeons and monsters have all been reborn in glorious high-definition, and new stories have been written for each of the 10 main characters, breathing new life and hitherto unseen replay value into one of the old-school RPG greats. One false move and you’re history! Experience the pulse-pounding, high-tension gameplay that made Wizardry the classic franchise it is, and helped shape the RPG world as we know it.”

Players can customize almost everything for their team members. The playable characters include Chris and Odetta, the humans, Verne and Lind the elves, Pegma and Nia, the Dwarves, plus Erno and Dia the Gnomes. This includes their names, race, genders, moral alignment, and more. The team starts off with little, but with careful planning, it can become a powerful force beloved by all.

While not in battle, gamers can explore the towns. This is where players can acquire new quests, chat with residents, pray at temples, purchase and repair equipment, and relax.

Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls was initially released on the PlayStation 3. It has been updated for modern consoles with HD graphics in multiple resolutions. There are now additional control options, including keyboard and mouse, and “Turbo Mode” for faster exploration. The title is still available for sale on the PlayStation Store. Unlike the PC release, the DLC comes at an additional cost.

The PC release of Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls will include all previous DLC content. The Steam release states it will have Japanese audio, but an English interface and subtitles are available.

Upon release, players can download the free Growth Fruit DLC to give an additional boost to characters during creation.

XSeed initially planned to bring Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls to PC in May 2019, but had to delay the release. There was a licensing issue with the IP that caused some setbacks in the game’s release.
