Black Shark announced their newest gaming smartphone, the Black Shark 2 Pro, during the ChinaJoy Expo which concluded last August 5. But it turns out that the company’s Malaysian partner has already geared up their calendars in launching the new gaming phone to the Malaysian market earlier than its world release.

The Xiaomi-backed smartphone is expected for release early next week, possibly on the 3rd of September. What’s everyone sure about is it will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest OS release, the Snapdragon 855+ chipset. Though the gaming smartphone is highly equipped with the latest performance-centric components, the Pro variant will have several improvements.

The launch date of the new smartphone was excitedly revealed by Black Shark Malaysia using its social media page. The Malaysian company though was not specific with its news, but the attached photo is indicative of the teaser image which was also used during the phone’s launch event.

When compared with its predecessor, the Black Shark 2 Pro packs some punch. It makes it’s different because of its high-performance Snapdragon 855+ chipset. The new gaming smartphone also offers better gaming performance because its internal rig is powered by a 2.96GHz CPU overclock, the Adreno 640 GPU, and an updated SoC.

Aside from its raw performance, the Black Shark 2 Pro is touted to have an improved display response time. Unlike the previous model with an input lag of 43.5ms, this smartphone only has 34.7ms. It may not sound much of an improvement, but its gaming appeal proves to be one of its complements. It’s worth noting though that the Black Shark 2 Pro still has a 60Hz display, which can be a bit of a downside.

On the lighter side, the new Black Shark gaming smartphone still maintained its 240Hz screen polling rate to reduce input lags. The phone has a perfectly sized 6.39 inched AMOLED display panel with a 1080p display. The phone also has a dual-camera system, a 48MP primary shooter partnered with an f/1.75 lens. It also has a selfie camera running at 20MP and an f/2.0 lens.

The Black Shark 2 Pro will also be packed with 128GB of RAM, a 4.000mAH-capacity battery, and variation between the 128GB or 256GB non-expandable storage. The lower storage variant will be priced at around $420, while the high-end version will have a slightly higher price of about $490.
