Microsoft just threw that last tweet which sent even the ultimate gamers into a frenzy, and obviously, one is left wondering. The tweet from the official Xbox account cryptically read, “Neuron Activation” is code for “Play Day One with Game Pass,” accompanied by what presumably served as a teaser image. The aforementioned electric charge definitely got the appropriate gaming community charging the ramp at maximum synchronicity while discharging dopaminergic levels.

So what gives? In layman’s words, neuron activation became an enormous meme going about in gaming circles – when something triggers that savage combination of gamer instincts for brinkmanship about hype. Like when you first catch the new trailer for a game you have been waiting forever to see. Or perhaps that frantic insight into an unanticipated Steam sale. That instant dopamine flood to your brain kicks in your monkey powers. And Xbox has been doing that like a surgeon.

The tease would seem to advertise some quite substantial day-one Game Pass title announcements by Microsoft. Makes sense; Microsoft has been smashing surprise drops ever since. Remember Hi-Fi Rush? Or how about Starfield being the biggest launch in Game Pass history? That kind of vibe.

Wildly, the tweet has not received any comments till now. Of course, one would think that the gaming community would have gone berserk in replies. Really, who knows; some are most probably refreshing the Xbox store for what this is, or yet again, Microsoft deleted all the spicy replies. Wouldn’t be surprised.

Already, insiders have begun speculating that this could mean something about that Persona 3 Reload leak for Game Pass, or perhaps the Indiana Jones game by MachineGames. Could even be Stalker 2 with a release date that’s finally stuck. Whatever the case, Xbox really knows how to push the gamers’ buttons, and they’re hammering those buttons HARD now.

The brilliance of Microsoft is the way they blatantly embrace this gamer meme culture they don’t announce games anymore they speak internet. “Neuron activation” is not corporate marketing speak. That’s what your buddy hollers across Discord when a new trailer drops. It’s authentic. It’s relatable. It works.

The timing couldn’t be better for Xbox: PlayStation seems to have a hard time telling the world about its future line-up, and Nintendo has remained obnoxiously quiet on the successor to the Switch. Honestly, people: it’s memes or corporate PR speak, every. d—. time.

What’s coming now is the only question. The ad seems vague enough to apply to anything. New first-party title? Surprise third-party collab? Raise the price for Game Pass (just kidding, please no)? Whatever the case, the internet is going to be all over that one! And so are our neurons, UBER activated.
