LEC came back for Week 8 with an online format.
While some teams failed to adapt, most of them adapted to the online environment quite well.
MAD Lions vs SK Gaming
Gnar / Olaf / Zoe / Senna / Trundle vs Sett / Gragas / Viktor / Aphelios / Tahm Kench
MAD Lions are one of the most promising rookies in LEC. They look really good and they managed to outplay SK Gaming. They secured all dragons, rift heralds, barons and 11 towers. SK Gaming were able to secure only 2 towers, but managed to steal the Elder Dragon. Even with the Elder Dragon, SK were too weak to defeat MAD Lions and they lost in the end.
Misfits Gaming vs Schalke 04
Gangplank / Gragas / Ornn / Varus / Galio vs Maokai / Lee sin / Azir / Aphelios / Nautilus
Schalke 04 turned around their season after a poor start, but it was too late. They are unable to secure a spot for playoffs and have lost their chance at the championship this season. They look really good going into the next season. Abbedage’s Azir was really good and carried away the game with no issues.
Excel Esports vs Fnatic
Renekton / Karthus / Ornn / Draven / Blitzcrank vs Pantheon / Gragas / Cassiopeia / Kai’sa / Thresh
Both UK organizations fought well, but Fnatic turned out to be the better one. Fnatic focused all their early resources on the top lane and snowballed Bwipo, who was able to deliver outstanding performance on the Pantheon pick. Rekkles in the bot lane has also performed really well and the team looked well synchronized together, which allowed them to pick up an easy win. With this win, Fnatic secured a spot in the playoffs.
Origen vs Team Vitality
Renekton / Sylas / Ornn / Aphelios / Braum vs Ornn / Gragas / Azir / Miss Fortune / Leona
Origen looks in form for playoffs, they delivered a clean win over Vitality who has been the last place in LEC. Alphari alongside Upset are reliable teammates who carry the games for Origen if it goes to mid or late game with no issues. Vitality on the other hand need to look at rebuilding for next season.
G2 Esports vs Rogue
Sett / Pantheon / Corki / Taliyah / Thresh vs Aatrox / Sejuani / Ekko / Draven / Nautilus
G2 never disappoints with their picks, they managed to stomp Rogue’s hopes of getting to a top 3 position during the split. They look extremely well prepared going into playoffs and if their success continues they will most likely get an easy spot in the current year World Championship.
That is all for Week 8, Day 1 coverage of LEC 2020, stay tuned for more in the upcoming days.
